Abstract
Description
本発明は、モールド・イン・プレース型ガスケット用の改善されたシール特性を有する組成物、および液体注入成形によるモールド・イン・プレース型ガスケットを形成するための方法に関する。より具体的には、本発明は、改善された弾性率およびシール特性を有し、(メタ)アクリレート官能基化シリカ、可塑剤、またはそれらを共に包含するモールド・イン・プレース型ガスケット組成物、およびそのようなモールド・イン・プレース型ガスケットを形成するための方法に関する。
従来、モールド・イン・プレース型ガスケットは、ガスケット形成材料をモールドに液体注入することによって形成されてきた。典型的な方法は、高温および/または高圧の液体注入を利用することを含む。例えば、典型的な方法は、Sakaiらの米国特許第5,597,523号公報に記載されている。成形方法および成形デバイスは、24,500kPa(3,500psi)の高い圧力および250℃(480°F)の高い温度を共に必要とする。上部および下部モールドは、かみ合わせられてそれらの間にあるモールドキャビティを決定する。液体ガスケット材料、例えば、エポキシ樹脂またはプラスチックゴムは、2,900kPa(430psi)でモールドキャビティにポンプで送られる。モールド(ガスケット材料がキャビティ内に配置されている)は、24,500kPa(3,500psi)の高い圧力で共にクランプされ、そして250℃(480°F)の高い温度に加熱される。ガスケット材料が硬化された後、モールドおよびガスケットは室温に冷却される。しかしながら、そのような短いサイクル時間で、そのような高い圧力および温度を利用するには、典型的にはガスケットを形成するために極めて精密さを維持しながら、圧力および温度におけるそのような大きな変動に耐えることができる金属モールドを使用する必要があり、このことは、装置および方法に経費がかかり、かつ運転を困難にしている。
モールド・イン・プレース型ガスケットの形成のために、本発明の組成物を、様々な有用なモールドで使用することができる。任意の従来のモールドを使用することができる。従来のモールドは、上部モールド部品および下部モールド部品が相互に連通してかみ合いモールドキャビティを形成するように設計されている前記2つの部品、およびモールドキャビティと流体連通している注入ポートを含む。キャビティは、所望の任意の形状または大きさであってよい。少なくとも1つのモールド部品は、それを通して化学線を透過するのが望ましい。液体ガスケット形成組成物は、注入ポートを通じてモールドキャビティ中に導入されてよい。組成物を注入し、硬化させてガスケットを形成することができる。望ましい態様では、化学線に曝すことによって硬化を助長することができる。この態様では、化学線の供給源が提供され、化学線はモールドキャビティを通って組成物へと透過する。
下の表1では、2種類の試料を配合した。組成物Aは、高い濃度の活性ヒュームドシリカおよび低い濃度の従来型ヒュームドシリカを含む配合物であり、一方、組成物Bは、低い量の活性ヒュームドシリカおよび高い濃度の従来型ヒュームドシリカを含む。これらの組成物を形成してモールド注入した。
下の表3では、2種類の試料を配合した。組成物Cは、可塑剤を含む配合物であり、一方、組成物Dは可塑剤を含まない。組成物を形成してモールド注入した。
下の表5および6は、様々な量の可塑剤およびシリカを包含する8種類の異なった組成物(E−L)を比較している。組成物E−Lを形成して化学線照射に曝し、それらの様々な特性を試験した。
下の表8では、5種類の試料を配合した。組成物MおよびOは、分子量が異なる2種類のアクリレート末端テレケリックポリアクリレートの組合せを含む。組成物Oは、さらに酸化防止剤を含み、組成物Oは従来型ヒュームドシリカを含んでいるが、組成物Mは活性ヒュームドシリカを含む。組成物を形成してモールド注入した。
Claims (22)
- ポリアクリレート、(メタ)アクリレート官能基化シリカ、および光開始剤を含む、改善された引張弾性率を有する化学線硬化性組成物。
- さらに、酸化防止剤を含む、請求項1に記載の化学線硬化性組成物。
- さらに、ジメチルアクリルアミドを含む、請求項1に記載の化学線硬化性組成物。
- さらに、疎水性ヒュームドシリカを含む、請求項1に記載の化学線硬化性組成物。
- 前記疎水性ヒュームドシリカに対する前記(メタ)アクリレート官能基化シリカの比が、3:1から1:3の間にある、請求項4に記載の化学線硬化性組成物。
- 前記疎水性ヒュームドシリカに対する前記活性ヒュームドシリカの比が、約2:1である、請求項5に記載の化学線硬化性組成物。
- さらに、可塑剤を含む、請求項1に記載の化学線硬化性組成物。
- 前記組成物が、約−30℃の低い温度で有効なシール力を維持する、請求項7に記載の化学線硬化性組成物。
- 前記組成物が、ピークtanδによるガラス転移温度が約−20℃から約−30℃の間であるものを含む、請求項7に記載の化学線硬化性組成物。
- 前記ポリアクリレートが、アクリレート末端テレケリックポリアクリレートを含む、請求項1に記載の化学線硬化性組成物。
- 前記ポリアクリレートが、約3,000から約40,000の分子量を有する、請求項1に記載の化学線硬化性組成物。
- 前記ポリアクリレートが、約10Pasから約1200Pasの粘度を有する、請求項1に記載の化学線硬化性組成物。
- 前記(メタ)アクリレート官能基化シリカが、活性ヒュームドシリカを含む、請求項1に記載の化学線硬化性組成物。
- 前記光開始剤が、プロパノンとホスフィンオキシドとの組合せを含む、請求項1に記載の化学線硬化性組成物。
- 前記組成物が、100%伸びで、約300から約450psiの引張弾性率を有する、請求項1に記載の化学線硬化性組成物。
- 前記組成物が、約60から約150Nの初期シール力を有する、請求項1に記載の化学線硬化性組成物。
- ガスケットを製造するための方法であって、以下のステップ:
改善された引張弾性率を有する化学線硬化性組成物を提供するステップであって、前記組成物は、ポリアクリレート、(メタ)アクリレート官能基化シリカ、および光開始剤を含み;
包囲されたガスケット形成キャビティおよび前記キャビティと連通している注入ポートを決定する注入モールドを提供するステップであって、前記モールドはモールドを通って化学線を透過させることができる化学線照射実行手段を含み;
少なくとも部分的に前記キャビティを充填するために、前記モールド中に前記組成物を注入するステップ;および
前記ガスケット形成キャビティ中でガスケットを形成するために、化学線を前記化学線照射実行手段によって、前記モールド中の前記組成物を硬化させるのに充分な量で透過させるステップ;
を含む方法。 - 前記化学線硬化性組成物が、さらに、疎水性ヒュームドシリカを含む、請求項17に記載の方法。
- 前記疎水性ヒュームドシリカに対する前記(メタ)アクリレート官能基化シリカの比が、3:1から1:3の間である、請求項18に記載の方法。
- 前記組成物が、約−20℃から約−30℃の間のガラス転移温度を含む、請求項17に記載の方法。
- 前記キャビティを充填するために、前記モールド中に前記組成物を注入するステップが、ほぼ室温で実施される、請求項17に記載の方法。
- 前記化学線照射実行手段が、化学線硬化性組成物にモールドを通って照射を実行する照射実行導管を含む、請求項17に記載の方法。
