Description
本発明は潤滑グリース組成物、特に離油(又は離液)(oil bleeding)及び剪断安定特性を向上すると共に、グリースの寿命を向上し、再潤滑間隔を増大するリチウム石鹸で増粘した潤滑グリース組成物に関する。
潤滑の主な目的は、互いに動く固体表面を分離して摩擦及び摩耗を低減することである。この目的で最も多く使用される材料は油及びグリースである。潤滑剤の選択は、特定の用途により殆ど決定される。
本発明の潤滑グリースは必須成分として基油を含有する。本発明のグリース組成物に使用される基油については特に制限はなく、各種の従来の基油が都合良く使用できる。基油は鉱物源でも合成源でもよい。鉱物源の基油は、例えば溶剤精製又は水素化処理により製造された鉱油であってよい。合成源の基油は、C10〜C50炭化水素重合体、例えばα−オレフィンの液体重合体の混合物であってよい。基油は、従来のエステル、例えばポリオールエステルであってよい。基油はこれら油の混合物であってもよい。好ましくは基油は、Royal Dutch/Shell企業グループから名称“HVI”又は“MVIN”で販売されている鉱油起源のものである。合成炭化水素基油、例えばRoyal Dutch/Shell企業グループから名称“XHVI”(商標)で販売されているものも使用できる。
好ましくはC12〜C24ジヒドロキシカルボン酸はC16〜C20ジヒドロキシカルボン酸である。特に好ましいジヒドロキシカルボン酸はジヒドロキシステアリン酸、例えば9,10−ジヒドロキシステアリン酸である。
特にイソステアリン酸である。
理論により制限されることを望むものではないが、第二カルボン酸は、優れた潤滑特性を示すグリースを付与するため、C12〜C24ヒドロキシカルボン酸の結晶化を改変するものと考えられる。
本発明を以下の実施例を参照して説明する。
基油の50%を、12−ヒドロキシステアリン酸、イソステアリン酸(存在すれば)及び水酸化リチウム一水和物及び水100mlと一緒にオートクレーブに装入した。オートクレーブを閉じ、145℃に加熱した。通気温度に達した後、通気バルブを開き、水蒸気を30分間開放した。水蒸気圧が0バールになった時、通気バルブを開けたまま、215℃の温度まで加熱を開始した。215℃の温度に達した後、オートクレーブを、1℃/分のジャケット冷却により165℃に達するまで冷却した。165℃に達した後、基油の残り50%を、溶解した重合体(存在すれば)と一緒に、この容器に装入した。次いで、生成物を80℃に冷却し、添加剤を全て容器に装入した。次いで、生成物を3本ロールミルで均質化した。
比較グリースA〜Fの配合物を下記表1に示す。

2.Ultrapolymers Deutschland GmbHから市販されているポリエチレン重合体
各種異なる潤滑特性を測定するため、実施例1〜12及び比較例A〜Fのグリースについて各種標準試験法を行なった。使用した各種試験法は以下の通りである。
ISO 2137/ASTM−D1831を用いて、ロール試験(rolltest)後の混和稠度を測定した。
ISO 2137/ASTM−D1831を用いて混和稠度差を測定した。
DIN 51817を用いて離油を測定した。
DIN 58397−2を用いて拡がり(spreading)挙動を測定した。
3.25℃で測定
4.80℃で50時間行なう。
5.40℃で18時間行なう。
6.40℃で7日間行なう。
7.120℃で18時間行なう。
8.120℃で7日間行なう。
9.40℃で行なう。

表4〜6のデータ及び図1〜6から、本発明のグリース(イソステアリン酸及び12−ヒドロキシステアリン酸のリチウム塩を含む)は、従来のグリース(12−ヒドロキシステアリン酸のリチウム塩を含むが、イソステアリン酸のリチウム塩を含まない)に比べて、潤滑特性、特に剪断安定性、離油、油拡がり及び油分離特性が向上したことが判る。また図1〜6から、イソステアリン酸及び12−ヒドロキシステアリン酸のリチウム塩を含む増粘剤系の他に、少量の重合体を含むグリースは、イソステアリン酸及び12−ヒドロキシステアリン酸のリチウム塩を含むが、重合体を含まないグリースに比べて一般に潤滑特性が向上(剪断安定性が向上し、離油が減少し、油拡がりが向上し、油分離が減少)したことが判る。
Claims (13)
- (a)基油と、(b)(i)C12〜C24ヒドロキシカルボン酸から選ばれた第一カルボン酸のリチウム石鹸及び(ii)分岐C12〜C24カルボン酸、C12〜C24ジヒドロキシカルボン酸及びそれらの混合物から選ばれた第二カルボン酸のリチウム石鹸を含む増粘剤系とを含有する潤滑グリース組成物。
- 前記ヒドロキシカルボン酸がC16〜C20ヒドロキシカルボン酸である請求項1に記載の潤滑グリース組成物。
- 前記ヒドロキシカルボン酸がヒドロキシステアリン酸である請求項1又は2に記載の潤滑グリース組成物。
- 前記ヒドロキシカルボン酸が12−ヒドロキシステアリン酸である請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の潤滑グリース組成物。
- 前記第二カルボン酸が分岐C12〜C24カルボン酸である請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の潤滑グリース組成物。
- 前記分岐カルボン酸が分岐C16〜C20カルボン酸である請求項1〜5のいずれか1項に記載の潤滑グリース組成物。
- 前記分岐カルボン酸がイソステアリン酸である請求項1〜6のいずれか1項に記載の潤滑グリース組成物。
- 前記第一カルボン酸と第二カルボン酸とが20:1〜1:1の重量比で存在する請求項1〜7のいずれか1項に記載の潤滑グリース組成物。
- エチレン及びオレフィンの重合体及び共重合体、並びにアクリル酸の重合体及び共重合体から選ばれた重合体を更に含有する請求項1〜8のいずれか1項に記載の潤滑グリース組成物。
- 前記選ばれた重合体の分子量が150,000〜700,000である請求項9に記載の潤滑グリース組成物。
- 前記基油が鉱油である請求項1〜10のいずれか1項に記載の潤滑グリース組成物。
- 離油を低減するために、請求項1〜11のいずれか1項に記載の潤滑グリース組成物を使用する方法。
- 剪断安定性を改良するために、請求項1〜11のいずれか1項に記載の潤滑グリース組成物を使用する方法。
