Description

上記の背景技術に記載したように、無線で通信を行うデバイスは、多くの場合、近距離では効果的に通信を行うことができない。近距離において、デバイス内の信号受信装置は、強い無線信号を復調することができない場合がある。IEEE802.11等の現行の無線LAN通信プロトコルの場合、通信の実効性が低下する距離は、約1メートル以下である。0.2メートル以下等の、さらなる近距離においては、この通信プロトコルまたは他の通信プロトコルを利用する多くのデバイスで、全く通信が不可能になってしまうことがある。
図1は、ある例示的な動作環境100を示す。例示的な動作環境100は、無線通信可能なデバイス102を含み、これらの全ては、無線LANまたはブルートゥース通信プロトコルに準拠するもの等の、無線通信の送信および受信が可能である。デバイス102は、携帯電話104、セットトップボックス106、テレビコンピューティングデバイス108、デスクトップコンピューティングデバイス110、ラップトップコンピューティングデバイス112、およびハンドヘルドタブレットコンピュータ114を含むように示される。

上記で部分的に述べたように、場合によっては、無線信号を送信しているデバイスが、信号の送信を意図する別のデバイスによって認識されない場合がある。他のデバイスからのこの信号は、認識されていないデバイス(『欠落ノード』として知られる)の信号と干渉することがある。この潜在的な問題は、低電力で送信される場合に深刻化する。この潜在的な問題に対処するために、本明細書は、近距離かつ、たいていは他のデバイスによる干渉なしに、デバイスが効果的に通信できるようにする、デバイスが低電力送信が行われるであろうことを判定できるようにする技術および装置について述べる。
図6は、例示的なシステム・オン・チップ(SoC)600を示し、これは、上記の種々の実施形態を実装できる。SoCは、媒体デバイス、コンピュータデバイス、テレビのセットトップボックス、ビデオ処理および/またはレンダリングデバイス、アプライアンスデバイス、ゲームデバイス、電子デバイス、車両、ワークステーションのうちのいずれか1つまたは組み合わせ等の固定または移動デバイス、および/または近距離で動作可能なローカルまたはパーソナルエリアネットワークで無線で通信できる任意の他の種類のデバイスに実施できる。これらのいくつかの実施例を、図1に102で示す。
Claims (19)
- 近距離無線通信の方法であって、前記方法は、
デバイスが公称よりも低い電力で送信するために、ネットワーク経由で、リンクセットアップリクエストを送信するステップと、
前記ネットワーク経由で、かつ、前記デバイスから、前記デバイスの現在の送信電力を示すリンクセットアップ応答を受信することであって、前記リンクセットアップ応答は受信された電力で受信されている、受信するステップと、
前記リンクセットアップ応答の前記受信された電力に基づき、前記デバイスの所望のデータ信号送信電力を判定するステップと、
前記ネットワーク経由で、前記所望のデータ信号送信電力を前記デバイスへ送信するステップと
を含む、方法。 - 前記デバイスからの通信が、第2のデバイスにおける最大スループットには高すぎる電力レベルで受信されるかどうかを判定することをさらに含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 受信されたデータ信号出力を有し、かつ、変調を有するデータ信号を前記デバイスから受信するステップと、
前記データ信号が、前記変調の最大未満のスループットを有するかどうかを判定するステップと、
前記受信されたデータ電力信号に基づき、かつ、前記データ信号が前記最大未満のスループットを有することの判定に応答して、第2の所望のデータ信号送信電力を判定するステップと、
前記第2の所望のデータ信号送信電力を前記デバイスに送信するステップと、をさらに含む、請求項1に記載の方法。 - 前記第2の所望のデータ信号送信電力を前記デバイスに送信することは、方向付けられたプローブ応答フレームを使用することを含む、請求項3に記載の方法。
- 前記データ信号が通信される際に経由する通信リンクを維持することをさらに含む、請求項3に記載の方法。
- 通信リンクを維持することは、開ループ制御を使用することを含み、前記開ループ制御は、受信されたデータ信号電力の変化に対して応答し、前記受信されたデータ信号電力の前記変化に対して応答し、前記デバイスとの通信が送信される送信電力を変化させる、請求項5に記載の方法。
- 通信リンクを維持することは、閉ループ制御を使用することを含み、前記閉ループ制御は、新しい所望のデータ信号送信電力のための、前記方法の前記ステップを定期的に再実行することを含む、請求項5に記載の方法。
- 前記リンクセットアップリクエストを送信し、前記所望のデータ信号送信電力を送信することは、ロバストな変調を使用して実行される、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記ロバストな変調は、直接シーケンススペクトル拡散技術を含む、請求項8に記載の方法。
- 前記リンクセットアップリクエストを送信し、前記所望のデータ信号送信電力を送信することは、公称よりも低い電力で送信することを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記ネットワークは、IEEE802.11プロトコルファミリー内の通信プロトコルに準拠する無線ローカルエリアネットワークである、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記ネットワークは、ブルートゥースプロトコルファミリー内の通信プロトコルに準拠する無線パーソナルエアリアネットワークである、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 所望のデータ信号送信電力を判定することは、さらに、データ受信デバイスに関連付けられるリンクマージンに基づく、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 第1の無線通信可能なデバイスから、第1の出力および第1の変調で、持続期間の間、送信媒体を使用するリクエストを示す第1の信号を送信するステップと、
前記持続期間の間、前記送信媒体が自由に使用できることを示す応答を受信すること、またはいかなる干渉の可能性のあるデバイスも前記第1の信号を受信していないことを示すために十分な期間において応答を受信しないことに応答して、前記第1の無線通信可能なデバイスから、前記第1の出力よりも低い出力である第2の出力、前記第1の変調とは異なる第2の変調で、かつ、前記持続期間以下の間、データを第2の無線通信可能なデバイスに送信する第2の信号を送信するステップと
を含む、方法。 - 前記持続期間は、前記第2の電力で前記第2の信号を使用して、前記第2の無線通信可能なデバイスへ特定の量のデータを送信するために、前記第1の無線通信可能なデバイスによって期待される時間の長さに基づく、請求項14に記載の方法。
- 前記第1の電力は、前記第1の無線通信可能なデバイスの公称電力であり、前記第2の電力は前記公称電力未満である、請求項14に記載の方法。
- 前記第1の信号は、リクエスト・トゥ・センド(RTS)パケット、またはクリア・トゥ・センド・セルフ(CTS−Self)パケットを含む、請求項14に記載の方法。
- 前記送信媒体が自由に使用できることを示す前記応答を受信することをさらに含み、前記応答は、前記第1の電力および前記第1の変調で受信され、かつ、クリア・トゥ・センド(CTS)フレームを含む、請求項14に記載の方法。
- 公称よりも低い出力でのデータ信号の送信をリクエストするリンクセットアップリクエストを受信するステップと、
前記リンクセットアップリクエストの受信に応答して、リンクセットアップ応答を送信することであって、前記リンクセットアップ応答は現在の送信電力を示すステップと、
前記リンクセットアップ応答に応答して、所望のデータ信号送信電力を受信するステップと、
持続期間の間、送信媒体を使用するリクエストを送信するステップと、
前記持続期間の間、前記送信媒体が自由に使用できる通知を受信すること、またはいかなる干渉の可能性のあるデバイスも、前記持続期間の間、前記送信媒体を使用する前記リクエストを受信していないことを示すために十分な期間における通知を受信しないことに応答して、前記所望のデータ信号送信電力で、前記持続期間以下の間、前記データ信号を送信するステップと、を実行するように構成される、システム・オン・チップ(SoC)。
