Abstract
【解決手段】液晶ディスプレイであって、第1の方向に偶数のサブ画素を有するサブ画素繰り返し集団から実質的に構成されるパネルと、パネルに画像データおよび極性信号を送るドライバと、を備えており、ドライバは、実質的に一貫する輝度エラーを有する複数のサブ画素に修正信号を送信することを特徴とする液晶ディスプレイが開示される。また、極性信号は、ドット反転方式であることを特徴とする液晶ディスプレイが開示される。

Description
同1出願人による米国特許出願を以下に示す。
更に示されているように、各々のサブ画素はカラムライン(カラム・ドライバ110によって各々駆動される)およびローライン(例えば112および114)に接続されている。AMLCDパネルの分野において、クロスストロークまたはフリッカーを減らすためにドット反転方式でパネルを駆動させることは公知である。図1Aは、各サブ画素の中央に記載された「+」および「−」極性によって示される特定のドット反転方式(すなわち1×1ドット反転方式)を示している。各ローラインは、通常は、TFT 116のゲート(図1Aに示されない)に接続されている。画像データ(カラムラインを介して供給される)は、通常は、各TFTのソースに接続される。画像データは、1度にパネルの1列に記録されると共に、奇数(ODD(「O」))あるいは偶数(EVEN(「E」))方式として本明細書中に示される極性バイアス方式が与えられる。図に示されるように、行112は特定の時に奇数極性方式によって記録され、一方、行114は次の時に偶数極性方式によって記録される。これらの極性は、この1×1ドット反転方式において、1度に1列だけ奇数および偶数方式を変更する。
Claims (15)
- 液晶ディスプレイであって、
第1の方向に偶数のサブ画素を有するサブ画素繰り返し集団から実質的に構成されるパネルと、
前記パネルに画像データおよび極性信号を送るドライバと、
を備えており、
前記ドライバは、実質的に一貫する輝度エラーを有する複数のサブ画素に修正信号を送信することを特徴とする液晶ディスプレイ。 - 前記極性信号は、ドット反転方式であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶ディスプレイ。
- 前記極性信号は、1×1ドット反転方式であることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の液晶ディスプレイ。
- 前記極性信号は、1×2ドット反転方式であることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の液晶ディスプレイ。
- 前記極性信号は、4位相ドット反転方式であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶ディスプレイ。
- 実質的に一貫する輝度エラーを有する前記複数のサブ画素は、青色のサブ画素であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶ディスプレイ。
- 第1の方向において偶数のサブ画素を有するサブ画素繰り返し集団から実質的に構成されるパネルを備える液晶ディスプレイにおいて、前記パネルにおいて画像の輝度減少又は輝度増加を修正する方法であって、
実質的に一貫する輝度エラーを有するサブ画素を決定する工程と、
前記サブ画素に適用する修正信号を決定する工程と、
前記修正信号を前記サブ画素への前記画像データ信号に加える工程と、
を備えることを特徴とする方法。 - 前記サブ画素を決定する工程は、前記サブ画素によって示されるエラーをテスト信号によって測定する工程を更に備えることを特徴とする請求項7に記載の方法。
- 前記修正信号を決定する工程は、前記修正信号を経験的にテストし、前記修正信号が前記エラーを実質的に修正するかどうかを検査する工程を更に備えることを特徴とする請求項7に記載の方法。
- 液晶ディスプレイであって、
第1の方向に偶数のサブ画素を有するサブ画素繰り返し集団から実質的に構成されるパネルと、
画像データおよび極性信号を前記パネルに送る複数の2位相ドライバ・チップと、
を有しており、
前記ドライバ・チップの位相は、前記ドライバ・チップの境界にてサブ画素上に与えられる輝度減少又は輝度増加効果が青のサブ画素上に実質的に与えられるように選択されることを特徴とする液晶ディスプレイ。 - 前記修正信号は、輝度減少又は輝度増加効果を有する複数の前記サブ画素に送信されることを特徴とする請求項10に記載の液晶ディスプレイ。
- 液晶ディスプレイであって、
第1の方向に偶数のサブ画素を有するサブ画素繰り返し集団から実質的に構成されるパネルと、
少なくとも2つの位相を有すると共に画像データおよび極性信号を前記パネルに送るドライバと、
を有しており、
前記ドライバの位相はサブ画素上に与えられる輝度減少又は輝度増加効果が青のサブ画素上に実質的に与えられるように選択されることを特徴とする液晶ディスプレイ。 - 前記修正信号は、輝度減少又は輝度増加効果を有する複数の前記サブ画素に送信されることを特徴とする請求項12に記載の液晶ディスプレイ。
- 前記サブ画素は、前記パネルの全ての青のサブ画素であることを特徴とする請求項12に記載の液晶ディスプレイ。
- 前記サブ画素は、前記パネルの全ての青のサブ画素のサブセットであることを特徴とする請求項12に記載の液晶ディスプレイ。
