Abstract
【解決手段】本発明のハニカム構造体10は、流体の流路となる複数のセル14が区画成形された、コーディエライトを主結晶相とするセラミックス材料からなる多孔質の隔壁12を備え、この隔壁12が、ナトリウムを酸化ナトリウム換算で0.08〜0.15質量%含有する。

Description
まず、本発明のハニカム構造体の一の実施形態について具体的に説明する。本実施形態のハニカム構造体は、図1に示すように、流体の流路となる複数のセル14が区画成形された、コーディエライトを主結晶相とするセラミックス材料からなる多孔質の隔壁12を備えた、コーディエライト質のハニカム構造体10である。ここで、図1は、本発明のハニカム構造体の一の実施形態を模式的に示す斜視図である。
次に、本発明のハニカム構造体の製造方法の一の実施形態について具体的に説明する。本実施形態のハニカム構造体の製造方法は、これまでに説明した本発明のハニカム構造体を製造する方法である。
アルミナ源として、粒子径20μm、ナトリウムの酸化ナトリウム換算の含有割合が0.4質量%のアルミナ(以下、表1中「アルミナ1」と示す)30質量部、粒子径30μm、ナトリウムの酸化ナトリウム換算の含有割合が0.01質量%のタルク43質量部、粒子径30μmのシリカ22質量部、を混合してコーディエライト化原料(合計100質量部)を調製した。なお、表1において、各成分中のナトリウムの酸化ナトリウム換算における割合を、「Na2O量(質量%)」と示す。
セラミック原料の配合処方を、表1及び表2に示すように変更した以外は、実施例1と同様にしてハニカム構造体を得た。得られたハニカム構造体について、実施例1と同様の測定及び評価を行った。結果を表1及び表2に示す。なお、比較例3のハニカム構造体については、焼成時にハニカム構造体が融けてしまったため、成形状態の評価以外の測定を行うことができなかった。
表1及び表2より、総酸化ナトリウムの含有割合(即ち、ナトリウムの酸化ナトリウム換算における割合)が、0.08〜0.15質量%の範囲である実施例1〜15のハニカム構造体は、比較例1のハニカム構造体よりも平均気孔径が大きくなっていた。比較例1においては、酸化ナトリウムの量が少なすぎて、コーディエライト化反応時に液相反応が促進されず、気孔径の増大が行われなかったものと考えられる。実施例1〜15のハニカム構造体は、造孔材を用いることにより、高気孔率化を実現することもできた。
Claims (8)
- 流体の流路となる複数のセルが区画成形された、コーディエライトを主結晶相とするセラミックス材料からなる多孔質の隔壁を備え、
前記隔壁が、ナトリウムを酸化ナトリウム換算で0.08〜0.15質量%含有するハニカム構造体。 - 前記セラミックス材料が、コーディエライトのアルミナ源として、ナトリウムを酸化ナトリウム換算で0.4〜1.0質量%含有する第一アルミナ源を少なくとも含むものである請求項1に記載のハニカム構造体。
- 前記隔壁に形成される細孔の平均気孔径X(μm)に対する、前記隔壁の厚さW(μm)の割合(W/X)が、3.0未満である請求項1又は2に記載のハニカム構造体。
- 前記隔壁の厚さが、100〜300μmである請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載のハニカム構造体。
- 前記隔壁の気孔率が、59〜67%であり、前記隔壁の平均気孔径が、30〜110μmである請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載のハニカム構造体。
- 40〜800℃における熱膨張係数が、0.5×10−6〜0.9×10−6/℃である請求項1〜5のいずれか一項に記載のハニカム構造体。
- コーディエライト化原料を含有するセラミック原料からなる成形用の坏土を調製し、調製した前記坏土を、流体の流路となる複数のセルが区画形成されたハニカム形状に成形して未焼成のハニカム成形体を得る工程を備え、
前記セラミック原料として、前記セラミック原料全質量に対して、ナトリウムを酸化ナトリウム換算で0.08〜0.15質量%含有するものを用いるハニカム構造体の製造方法。 - 前記コーディエライト化原料のアルミナ源として、ナトリウムを酸化ナトリウム換算で0.4〜1.0質量%含有する第一アルミナ源を少なくとも含むものを用いる請求項7に記載のハニカム構造体の製造方法。
