Abstract
【解決手段】不織布はほぼ結合していない繊維にて形成される。不織布をビニル単量体の溶液にて含浸する一方で紫外線にて照射する反応により酸または塩基と反応して直接的または間接的に塩を生成するビニル単量体が繊維の表面に共重合させられる。不織布は電気化学的装置の電極隔離板として使用するのに適している。

Description
(a)酸または塩基と反応して直接的または間接的に塩を生じる性質を有するビニル単量体の溶液にて不織布を含浸し、溶媒は不織布に紫外線を照射する後の工程においてほぼ蒸発しないものであることと、
(b)含浸させられた不織布の酸素への露曝を制限しつつ不織布に紫外線を照射して単量体と繊維材料とを共重合させること、
とを含む不織布の処理方法を提供する。この場合、処理前の不織布は繊維がほぼ結合していない構造を有する。
重さ約0.5gの不織布試料を1.0M塩酸に2時間、60℃にて浸漬し、酸(H+)形に変換する。洗浄水が約6〜7の範囲のpHを示すまで蒸留水にて試料を洗浄する。この後試料を一定重量にまで70℃にて乾燥する。
実施例1
厚さ140μm、斤量60g・m−2のドライレイド不織布をカーディングした純ポリプロピレンステープルファイバから製造した。繊維から形成したウェブを160℃に加熱した1組の滑らかなローラに通過させて高密度化した。
処理を行った不織布は下表に示されるような性質を示した。これをポリプロピレン不織布の開始物質の性質と比較した。

実施例1の手順を用いて50wt%純ポリプロピレンステープルファイバと50wt%ポリエチレン/ポリプロピレン2成分ステープルファイバとの混合物からドライレイド不織布を製造した。不織布の厚さは145μMであり、斤量は60g・m−2であった。これをアクリル酸溶液に浸漬し、実施例1に述べた手順を用いて紫外線照射した。
サイズAAの螺旋巻回式ニッケル−水素化金属(ミッシ金属電極)アルカリセルを実施例5に述べた種類の隔離板を用いて構成した。セルを350mAで充電した後10オームの受動負荷に通電して放電することを繰返した。セルは放電に際して、1.0Vのカットオフ電圧においてまで1000mA・hの供給が可能であることが示された。
商業的に用いられるスパンボンド不織布ポリプロピレン不織布に実施例1の手順を行って厚さ200μm、斤量50g・m−2の電池隔離板を製造した。
Claims (11)
- ビニル単量体の溶液にて含浸される一方で紫外線にて照射される反応により酸または塩基と反応して直接的または間接的に塩を生じるビニル単量体が表面に共重合させられた繊維であって、ほぼ非結合状態にある繊維から形成される不織布。
- 前記共重合反応の前に測定した繊維の加工方向の引張り強さに対する、共重合反応の後に測定した繊維の加工方向の引張り強さの比が少なくとも約1.5である請求項1に記載の不織布。
- ウェットレイド法、ドライレイド法、紡糸法のいずれかを含むプロセスにより製造されたものである請求項1に記載の不織布。
- 平均の厚さが約400μmより小さい請求項1または2に記載の不織布。
- 平均の厚さが少なくとも約80μmである請求項1乃至3のいずれか1項に記載の不織布。
- ビニル単量体はエチレン性不飽和カルボン酸またはそのエステルを含む請求項1乃至5のいずれか1項に記載の不織布。
- 不織布の繊維材料の重量比率にして少なくとも約40%がポリプロピレンである請求項1乃至6のいずれか1項に記載の不織布。
- 不織布を形成する繊維の平均の厚さが少なくとも約30μmである請求項1乃至7のいずれか1項に記載の不織布。
- 請求項1乃至8のいずれか1項に記載の不織布と、少なくとも1つの更なる不織布であって、特定の反応により酸または塩基と反応して直接的または間接的に塩を生じるビニル単量体と共重合反応させられた疎水性重合体材料の繊維にて形成された不織布との積層板。
- 陽極、陰極、所定量の電解質、及び、電極隔離板であって請求項1乃至8のいずれか1項に記載の不織布または請求項9に記載の積層板から形成された電極隔離板を有する電気化学的装置。
- 不織布の処理方法であって、
(a)酸または塩基と反応して直接的または間接的に塩を生じるビニル単量体の溶液にて不織布を含浸し、溶媒は不織布を紫外線照射する後工程において著しくは蒸発しないものであることと、
(b)前記含浸させられた不織布の酸素への露曝を制限する一方で該不織布を紫外線にて照射することにより前記単量体と繊維材料とを共重合させることとを含み、
処理前の不織布の構造は繊維がほぼ非結合状態にある方法。
