Abstract
【解決手段】液晶配向機能が付与された配向膜に、当該配向膜起因の分解生成物が、100cm2当たり、3957.5ng以下である。

Description
(1)この短分子成分は低分子量であるため、一定量を超える残存分は液晶中に溶け出し、液晶分子配向の電圧保持率の低下を招く。
(2)この短分子成分をラビングによる削り屑のようなものと仮定すると、その多量な残存は配向膜表面の弾性率の低下を招く。
(3)多量に残存した短分子成分は配向制御に寄与しないため、配向膜の熱的安定性や電気的特性を低減させる。

<<残像消失レベルの検証>>
(A)評価方法
チェッカーフラッグ状に画面を白黒16分割させたパターンを表示させた。2分間その状態を保持させた。中間調で、チェッカーフラッグ状パターンが消失した時間を計測した。
(B)評価基準
レベル3:1分では消失しない。
レベル2:1分以内に消失。
レベル1:残像が出るが、2,3秒以内に消失。
レベル0:残像が発生しない。
<<LCDセル信頼性の検証>>
レベル1:1000時間、100℃の高温度放置後に,黒画面を出すと、もやむらが生じた。
レベル0:1000時問、100℃の高温度放置後も表示に不具合なし。
<検証結果>
上記の表3において、LCDセルの信頼性では、試料No.11ではむらが発生し、レベル1となった。したがって、LCD信頼性の観点からは、分解生成物量は、少なくとも3957.5ng以下、好ましくは、3500.0ng以下であることが望ましいと言える。
また、上記分解生成物の最適量を有する配向膜の作製は、表1を参照することにより、実現可能である。

Claims (9)
- 画素選択用のアクティブ素子が形成された基板の最上層に第1の配向膜を有する第1の基板と、カラーフィルタが形成された基板の最上層に第2の配向膜を有する第2の基板と、前記第1の配向膜と前記第2の配向膜の間に封止された液晶とを有する液晶表示装置であって、
前記第1の配向膜と前記第2の配向膜は共に、光の照射により液晶の配向機能が付与されており、
前記配向機能が付与された配向膜に、当該配向膜起因の短分子成分を含むことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項1において、
前記短分子成分は、光の照射により生じる配向膜の分解生成物であることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項2において、
前記分解生成物の残留量が、100cm2当り、3957.50ng以下であることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項3において、
前記分解生成物の残留量が、100cm2当り、3500.0ng以下であることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項4において、
前記分解生成物の残留量が、100cm2当り、1000.0ng以下であることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項5において、
前記分解生成物の残留量が、100cm2当り、500.0ng以下であることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項6において、
前記分解生成物の残留量が、100cm2当り、0.1ng以上であることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項7において、
前記分解生成物の残留量が、100cm2当り、4.8ng以上、465.8ng以下であることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項2において、
前記配向膜形成時に、積算光量を1.5〜10.0J/cm2与え、その後、当該配向膜を加熱することを特徴とする液晶表示装置。
