Abstract
Description
<ヒドロキシル含有正孔輸送化合物の調製>
ヒドロキシル含有正孔輸送化合物(N,N−ビス(4-ヒドロキシメチルフェニル)−3,4−ジメチルフェニルアミン)を以下のように調製した。
<オーバーコート組成物の調製>
1gのポリエステルポリオール(DESMOPHEN(登録商標)800)と、0.6gのCymel 1130と、0.8gの正孔輸送分子(実施例1のN,N−ビス(4−ヒドロキシメチルフェニル)−3,4−ジメチルフェニルアミン)と、7.2gの1−メトキシ−2−プロパノール(Dowanol PM)と、触媒として0.2gのp−トルエンスルホン酸/ピリジン(1−メトキシ−2−プロパノール中、8%酸/4%ピリジン)とを含む被覆用組成物を生成した。これらの成分を混合し、全ての成分が溶解するまで室温(約20〜約25℃)で振とうした。
<オーバーコート組成物の調製>
0.8gの正孔輸送分子(N,N−ビス(4−ヒドロキシメチルフェニル)−3,4−ジメチルフェニルアミン)を、0.6gの正孔輸送分子(N,N’−ジフェニル−N,N’−ビス(3−ヒドロキシフェニル)−1,1'−ビフェニル−4,4’−ジアミン)に代える以外は実施例2と同様にして、被覆用組成物を生成した。
<オーバーコートした画像形成部材の製造>
実施例2の被覆用組成物を用いてオーバーコートした画像形成部材シートまたはベルトを作成した。詳細には、厚さ3.5ミル(89μm)の二軸延伸ポリエチレンナフタラート基材(Kadalex、ICIアメリカズ社(ICI Americas, Inc.)製)上に厚さ0.02μmのチタン層を被覆し、その上に、10gのγ−アミノプロピルトリエトキシシランと、10.1gの蒸留水と、3gの酢酸と、684.8gの200プルーフの変性アルコールと、200gのヘプタンとを含む溶液をグラビアコーティング法を用いて塗布し、電子写真用画像形成部材ウェブ材料を調製した。次にこの層を、強制換気オーブン中135℃で5分間乾燥させた。エリプソメータを用いて測定した、生成した障壁層の平均乾燥厚さは0.05μmであった。
<オーバーコートした画像形成部材の製造>
比較例1の組成物を用いてオーバーコート層を作る以外は実施例3と同じ方法で画像形成部材を製造した。
<対照用画像形成部材の製造>
オーバーコート層を省く以外は実施例3と同じ方法で画像形成部材を製造した。この画像形成部材を対照として用いた。
<画像形成部材の試験>
実施例3と比較例2および3の画像形成部材について、スキャナ中におけるその静電画像形成感度とサイクル安定性を試験した。スキャナは本技術において公知であり、ドラムを電気的に荷電および放電させながらこれを回転させる手段を取り付けたものである。デバイス周囲に正確に配置した静電プローブを用いて、試料上の電荷をモニターした。この実施例では、試料を500ボルトの負の電位に荷電した。デバイスを回転させ、初期荷電電位を電圧プローブ1で測定した。次に、試料を公知の強度の単色の放射で露光し、その表面電位を電圧プローブ2および3で測定した。最後に、試料を適当な強度と波長の消去ランプで露光し、残留電位を電圧プローブ4で測定した。スキャナのコンピュータで制御しながらこの工程を繰り返し、データをコンピュータに蓄積した。電圧プローブ2および3における電位を光エネルギーの関数としてプロットして、PIDC(光誘導放電曲線:photo induced discharge curve)を得た。
