Abstract
【解決手段】 本発明の堆積量推定装置は、機関排気通路上に配置されると共に触媒を担持したフィルタと、フィルタの前後差圧を検出すると共に検出された前後差圧に基づいてフィルタ上への煤堆積量を推定する堆積量推定手段と、フィルタ上に堆積している煤の酸化状態を検出する酸化状態検出手段と、フィルタの温度を煤酸化温度以上に昇温してフィルタに担持された触媒近傍においてフィルタ上に堆積している煤を強制的に酸化させる強制酸化手段とを具備する。堆積量推定手段は、触媒近傍においてフィルタ上に堆積している煤が部分的にのみ酸化されていることが酸化状態検出手段によって検出された場合には、触媒近傍においてフィルタ上に堆積している煤を強制酸化手段によって酸化させてから煤堆積量を推定する。

Description
第1の発明によれば、触媒近傍においてフィルタ上に堆積している煤が部分的にのみ酸化されている場合、すなわち、フィルタの前後差圧に基づいてフィルタ上への煤堆積量を推定するのが困難な場合に、強制酸化手段によって触媒近傍においてフィルタ上に堆積している煤が全て酸化され、その後フィルタの前後差圧に基づいて煤堆積量が推定せしめられる。触媒近傍においてフィルタ上に堆積している煤が全て酸化されると、フィルタの前後差圧に基づいてフィルタ上への煤堆積量を正確に推定することができるため、触媒近傍においてフィルタ上に堆積している煤が部分的にのみ酸化されている場合であってもフィルタ上への煤堆積量を正確に推定することができるようになる。
なお、「煤酸化温度」とは、触媒の酸化作用によって煤が酸化せしめられる温度であり、触媒の酸化作用なくして煤が燃焼する煤燃焼温度よりも低い温度である。「触媒近傍においてフィルタ上に堆積している煤」とは、フィルタの温度が煤酸化温度以上になると触媒の酸化作用によって酸化せしめられる程度に触媒に近接して堆積している煤を意味し、フィルタ上に堆積している全ての煤の一部である。
フィルタ上に堆積している煤がほとんどまたは全く酸化されていない場合および触媒近傍においてフィルタ上に堆積している煤がほとんどまたは全て酸化されている場合には、フィルタの前後差圧と煤堆積量とは一定の関係を有する。このため、第2の発明では、これら場合には、検出されたフィルタの前後差圧に基づいてマップを用いて煤堆積量を推定するようにしている。
フィルタ上に堆積している煤の酸化状態、すなわちフィルタ上に堆積している煤が全く酸化されていないか、触媒近傍においてフィルタ上に堆積している煤が部分的にのみ酸化されているか、または触媒近傍においてフィルタ上に堆積している煤が全て酸化されているかについては、フィルタの温度およびその温度の継続時間等に応じて変化する。第3の発明では、フィルタの温度履歴に基づいて酸化状態が検出されるため、煤の酸化状態を正確に検出することができる。

Claims (3)
- 機関排気通路上に配置されると共に触媒を担持したフィルタと、該フィルタの前後差圧を検出すると共に該検出された前後差圧に基づいて上記フィルタ上への煤堆積量を推定する堆積量推定手段とを具備する堆積量推定装置において、
上記フィルタ上に堆積している煤の酸化状態を検出する酸化状態検出手段と、
上記フィルタの温度を煤酸化温度以上に昇温して、上記フィルタに担持された触媒近傍において該フィルタ上に堆積している煤を強制的に酸化させる強制酸化手段とをさらに具備し、
上記触媒近傍において上記フィルタ上に堆積している煤が部分的にのみ酸化されていることが上記酸化状態検出手段によって検出された場合には、上記堆積量推定手段は上記触媒近傍においてフィルタ上に堆積している煤を上記強制酸化手段によって酸化させてから煤堆積量を推定する堆積量推定装置。 - 上記フィルタ上に堆積している煤がほとんどまたは全く酸化されていない場合における上記フィルタの前後差圧と煤堆積量との関係を示す未酸化時マップと、上記触媒近傍においてフィルタ上に堆積している煤がほとんどまたは全て酸化されている場合における上記フィルタの前後差圧と煤堆積量との関係を示す酸化時マップとをさらに具備し、
上記堆積量推定手段は、上記フィルタ上に堆積している煤がほとんどまたは全く酸化されていないことが上記酸化状態検出手段によって検出された場合には上記検出されたフィルタの前後差圧に基づいて上記未酸化時マップを用いて煤堆積量を推定し、上記触媒近傍においてフィルタ上に堆積している煤がほとんどまたは全て酸化されていることが上記酸化状態検出手段によって検出された場合には上記検出されたフィルタの前後差圧に基づいて上記酸化時マップを用いて煤堆積量を推定し、上記触媒近傍においてフィルタ上に堆積している煤が部分的にのみ酸化されていることが上記酸化状態検出手段によって検出された場合には上記強制酸化手段によって煤を酸化させてから上記検出されたフィルタの前後差圧に基づいて上記酸化時マップを用いて煤堆積量を推定する請求項1に記載の堆積量推定装置。 - 上記酸化状態検出手段は上記フィルタの温度履歴に基づいて酸化状態を検出する請求項1または2に記載の堆積量推定装置。
