Abstract
Description
本特許出願は2002年7月2日に出願されている米国仮特許出願第60/393,187号および2002年7月8日に出願されている米国仮特許出願第60/394,398号の恩典を主張している。
本発明は一定の密封したパッケージを形成するために一定の眼用のコンタクト・レンズを収容している容器をヒート・シールするための一定の装置に関連している。特に、本発明はそれぞれの蓋および容器の組立体に対する熱および圧力の供給を制御することにより一定のパッケージを形成するために一定のレンズの容器に対して一定の蓋材(lidstock)をヒート・シールするための装置に関連している。
親水性(「ソフト(soft)」)の眼用コンタクト・レンズを製造する場合に、これまでは、単一のレンズと所定量の液体(一般的にはバッファー処理した生理塩水)を収容するための使い捨て可能なパッケージの中に製造した各レンズを包装していた。一般に、このレンズおよび液体は容器内の空孔部(cavity)または窪み(well)の中に導入される。また、この容器は通常は熱可塑性樹脂(例えば、ポリプロピレンまたはポリスチレン)によって形成される。レンズおよび液体を容器に入れた後に、容器の上部に箔片(foil strip)を供給して蓋を形成してから、その箔片を容器上部にヒート・シールして一定のパッケージを形成することにより、上記容器をシールする。その後、このレンズと液体の両方を収容するヒート・シールしたパッケージを、さらに、例えば滅菌処理等を含む処理にかける。
本発明はコンタクト・レンズを包装するための装置に関連している。この装置は複数の分離したレンズ・キャリヤおよび複数のコンタクト・レンズの容器を備えている。これらのキャリヤは装置内において移動可能である。これらの容器の各1個がキャリヤの各1個にそれぞれ取り付けられている。

Claims (28)
- 複数のコンタクト・レンズの容器の中にコンタクト・レンズを包装するための装置であり、それぞれの容器が一定の凹部、当該凹部の周囲における一定のシール・フランジ、および前記凹部の中における一定のコンタクト・レンズを有しており、さらに、前記複数の容器が一定の隣接している蓋材に対して前記装置の中においてシールされることにより一組のパッケージを形成する装置において、
複数のリフト、
前記装置の一定の下側の部分の中に配置されている複数のプラテンを備えており、これらのプラテンのそれぞれが二個以上の方向において順応性を有している一定のコンプライアント・ヘッドを含み、前記プラテンのそれぞれが互いに隣接しており、前記プラテンのそれぞれが前記リフトの内の1個により別個に支持されており、さらに、
複数の分離しているキャリヤを備えており、これらのキャリヤが前記装置の中において前記複数のプラテンの上まで移動可能であり、これらのキャリヤのそれぞれが前記プラテンのそれぞれの1個の上に取り付けられて、前記容器の内の単独の1個が前記キャリヤの内の単独の1個の上に取り付けられることにより互いに近接して配置されている前記複数の容器を形成し、さらに
前記互いに近接して配置されている複数の容器の上に一定の隣接している蓋材を配置するための一定の蓋材操作システム、および
前記複数のプラテンの上に配置されている一定のマンドレルを備えており、
前記マンドレルおよび前記複数のプラテンにより前記隣接している蓋材および前記各容器のフランジに圧力を加えることにより前記隣接している蓋材を前記複数の容器に接着して一組のパッケージを形成する装置。 - それぞれのキャリヤが一定のキャビティを有しており、それぞれの前記容器の凹部が前記キャリヤのキャビティの中に受容されている請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記蓋材が一定の厚さを有していて前記容器が一定の厚さを有しており、さらに、前記マンドレルが前記蓋材を前記容器にシールするために一定の後退した上側の位置と一定の係合した下側の位置との間において選択的に移動可能であり、前記下側の位置において、前記プラテンのそれぞれに対して前記マンドレルにより加えられる一定の圧力がそれぞれのリフトにより所定の範囲内に維持され、これにより、前記容器の厚さおよび前記蓋材の厚さにおける許容度の差を補正して、一定の適当なシールを前記蓋材と前記容器のそれぞれとの間に形成する請求項1に記載の装置。
- さらに、前記リフトに接続している一定の圧力トランスデユーサを備えており、さらに、これらのリフトが前記圧力トランスデユーサにより決定される所定の範囲内において前記容器に圧力を加える請求項3に記載の装置。
- 前記マンドレルが加熱される請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記蓋材が印刷を含み、前記蓋材操作システムがさらに
前記蓋材における印刷の品質を検査してその印刷の位置に基づく前記装置の中における蓋材の整合を同時に検査するための手段を有する一定の視覚整合検査システムを含む請求項1に記載の装置。 - 前記蓋材操作システムがさらに一定の印刷システムおよび一定の切断システムを含み、前記蓋材が一定のロールから張力下において前記印刷システムおよび前記切断システムの中に供給され、前記視覚整合検査システムが前記印刷システムの後に配置されている請求項6に記載の装置。
- 前記蓋材操作システムがさらに一定の印刷システムおよび一定の切断システムを含み、前記蓋材が一定のロールから張力下において前記印刷システムおよび前記切断システムの中に供給され、前記整合検査システムが前記印刷システムと前記切断システムとの間に配置されている請求項6に記載の装置。
- さらに、一定のヒート・シール装置を含み、前記蓋材を前記視覚整合検査システムの後に機械的に制御することにより前記ヒート・シール装置の中における前記蓋材の整合不良を防ぐ請求項6に記載の装置。
- 前記マンドレルが前記係合した下側の位置において前記蓋材に接触するまでその蓋材の位置が前記容器の上方において前記蓋材操作システムにより保持されている請求項3に記載の装置。
- 前記装置がさらに、
それぞれ一定のダイ・シリンダーを有している複数のダイをさらに含む前記マンドレル、および
前記キャリヤのそれぞれの上方に配置されている前記ダイを備えており、
前記シリンダーが前記ダイのそれぞれに、所定の範囲内において、圧力を加える請求項1に記載の装置。 - 複数のコンタクト・レンズの容器の中にコンタクト・レンズを包装するための装置であり、それぞれの容器が一定の凹部、当該凹部の周囲における一定のシール・フランジ、および前記凹部の中における一定のコンタクト・レンズを有しており、さらに、前記複数の容器が一定の隣接している蓋材に対して前記装置の中においてシールされることにより一組のパッケージを形成する装置において、
前記装置の一定の下側の部分の中における一定のプラテンを備えており、このプラテンが二個以上の方向において順応性を有している一定のコンプライアント・ヘッドを含み、前記プラテンが複数のキャリヤを支持することができ、さらに、
複数の分離しているキャリヤを備えており、これらのキャリヤが互いに近接して配置されるように、それぞれのキャリヤが前記装置の中において前記プラテンの上まで移動可能であり、さらに
前記複数の容器の上に蓋材を配置するための一定の蓋材操作システム、
複数のリフト、および
前記プラテンの上に配置されている複数のマンドレルを備えており、これらのマンドレルのそれぞれが前記リフトの内の1個により別個に支持されており、前記キャリヤのそれぞれが前記マンドレルのそれぞれの下方に配置されており、
前記マンドレルおよび前記プラテンにより前記蓋材および前記各容器のフランジに圧力を加えることにより前記蓋材を前記複数の容器に接着する装置。 - 前記蓋材が一定の厚さを有していて前記容器が一定の厚さを有しており、さらに、前記マンドレルが前記蓋材を前記容器にシールするために一定の後退した上側の位置と一定の係合した下側の位置との間において選択的に移動可能であり、前記下側の位置において、前記プラテンに対して前記マンドレルにより加えられる一定の圧力がそれぞれのリフトにより所定の範囲内に維持され、これにより、前記容器の厚さおよび前記蓋材の厚さにおける許容度の差を補正して、一定の適当なシールを前記蓋材と前記容器のそれぞれとの間に形成する請求項12に記載の装置。
- さらに、前記リフトに接続している一定の圧力トランスデユーサを備えており、さらに、これらのリフトが前記圧力トランスデユーサにより決定される所定の範囲内において前記容器に圧力を加える請求項12に記載の装置。
- 前記マンドレルが加熱される請求項12に記載の装置。

- 前記蓋材操作システムがさらに一定の印刷システムおよび一定の切断システムを含み、前記蓋材が一定のロールから張力下において前記印刷システムおよび前記切断システムの中に供給され、前記整合検査システムが前記印刷システムと前記切断システムとの間に配置されている請求項16に記載の装置。
- さらに、一定のヒート・シール装置を含み、前記蓋材を前記視覚整合検査システムの後に機械的に制御することにより前記ヒート・シール装置の中における前記蓋材の整合不良を防ぐ請求項16に記載の装置。

- 前記コンプライアント・ヘッドが垂直および水平の各方向において順応性を有している請求項12に記載の装置。
- 前記コンプライアント・ヘッドが縦揺れおよび横揺れの各方向において順応性を有している請求項12に記載の装置。
- 前記プラテンのそれぞれが一定のヒート・シール・ダイを含み、このヒート・シール・ダイが1秒よりも短い一定の遅延時間により当該ヒート・シール・ダイの温度を上昇できる一定のウエハ・ヒーターを含む請求項12に記載の装置。
- 複数のコンタクト・レンズの容器の中にコンタクト・レンズを包装するための装置であり、それぞれの容器が一定の凹部、当該凹部の周囲における一定のシール・フランジ、および前記凹部の中における一定のコンタクト・レンズを有しており、さらに、前記複数の容器が一定の隣接している蓋材に対して前記装置の中においてシールされることにより一組のパッケージを形成する装置において、
一定のヒート・シール・ダイを備えており、このヒート・シール・ダイが前記シール・フランジに対して接触する一定の比較的に多量の箔が存在する場合に前記蓋材に接触するそのヒート・シール・ダイの領域内に特別の熱的な素材を含む装置。
