Abstract
Description
炭水化物が糖尿病食に配合するのに適しているかどうかをスクリーニングする1つの方法はin−vitro消化モデルで動物又はヒト酵素により消化される速度を測定する方法である。この技術は当分野で周知であり、MuirとO’DeaによりAmerican Journal of Clinical Nutritional(1992)56: 123−127及びAmerican Journal of Clinical Nutritional(1993)57: 540−546に記載されている。まずこの分析をプルランに実施した。食品製造で日常的に使用されている条件を再現するために、プルランの1サンプルを10分間15psi及び121℃でオートクレーブにより熱処理した。
実施例Iに報告した驚くべきデータに基づき、更に各種分子量のプルランサンプルを使用して同様の実験を実施した。比較のためにグルコースも試験した。文献に報告されているコーンスターチのデータを以下に示す。
本実施例ではプルランで実施した別のin−vitro試験を説明する。
以下の実施例はプルランが2型糖尿病(インスリン抵抗性)の動物モデルで消化の遅い炭水化物として作用できることを例証する。
マルトデキストリン又はプルランを摂取させた雄Zucker fatty fa/faラットの食後血糖応答を図1に示し、血中グルコースの基線からの増分変化を図2に示す。基線血中グルコース値は変わらなかった(マルトデキストリンの116±5に対してプルランの115±5mg/dl)。血中グルコースの基線からの増分変化はプルランを摂取させたラットは食後30分で45%減少した(P<0.01)(図2)。曲線下面積(AUC)を計算した処(Wolever and Jenkins,The use of glycemic index in predicting the blood glucose response to mixed meals.Am.J.Clin.Nutr.1986,43,167−172.)、プルランを投与したラットのほうが低い(P<0.05)ことが判明した(3時間AUCマルトデキストリンの4812±581に対してプルランの2889±486)。
本実施例の主目的はプルランとマルトデキストリンに対する非糖尿病健康成人の食後血糖応答を分析することであった。
マルトデキストリン(対照)又はプルランを摂取させた健康対象の食後血糖応答を図4に示す。プルランは食後3時間にわたって基線(絶食)レベルよりも血中グルコースの上昇を生じた。従来技術により分類されているようにプルランが難消化性であったならば、血中グルコースの食後上昇は期待できないであろう。1例として、図3に示すように難消化性多糖であるポリデキストロースを摂取させた糖尿病患者の食後血中グルコース濃度は変化が最少である。
Claims (27)
- 十分な量のプルランを糖尿病患者に投与することを含む糖尿病患者に低血糖応答を生じさせるための方法。
- 前記プルランが食事代用製品に配合されている請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記プルランが乾燥重量換算で、前記製品に含まれる総炭水化物の少なくとも5w/w%を構成する請求項2に記載の方法。
- 前記食事代用製品がバー又は飲料である請求項3に記載の方法。
- 前記食事代用製品が
a)総カロリーの約10〜約35%を提供する蛋白源と、
b)総カロリーの約10〜約50%を提供する脂肪源と、
c)総カロリーの約25〜約80%を提供する炭水化物系と
を含む請求項2に記載の方法。 - プルランが前記製品の総炭水化物の少なくとも5w/w%を構成する請求項5に記載の方法。
- 有効量のプルランを糖尿病患者に摂取させることを含む糖尿病患者に栄養を提供するための方法。
- 前記プルランが食事代用製品に配合されている請求項7に記載の方法。
- 前記プルランが乾燥重量換算で、前記製品に含まれる総炭水化物の少なくとも5w/w%を構成する請求項8に記載の方法。
- 前記食事代用製品がバー又は飲料である請求項8に記載の方法。
- 前記食事代用製品が
a)総カロリーの約10〜約35%を提供する蛋白源と、
b)総カロリーの約10〜約50%を提供する脂肪源と、
c)総カロリーの約25〜約80%を提供する炭水化物系と
を含む請求項10に記載の方法。 - プルランが前記製品の総炭水化物の少なくとも5w/w%を構成する請求項11に記載の方法。
- 有効量のプルランを糖尿病患者に摂取させることを含む糖尿病患者の血中グルコース値の管理を補助するための方法。
- グルコースの持続放出を必要とする糖尿病患者に十分な量のプルランを投与することを含むグルコースの持続放出を行うための方法。
- 十分な量のプルランをヒトに摂取させることを含むヒトに満腹を生じさせるための方法。
- 十分な量のプルランをヒトに摂取させることを含むヒトの減量プログラムの補助方法。
- 十分な量のプルランをヒトに摂取させることを含むヒトの減量促進方法。
- 前記プルランが食事代用製品に配合されている請求項17に記載の方法。
- 前記プルランが乾燥重量換算で、前記製品に含まれる総炭水化物の少なくとも5w/w%を構成する請求項18に記載の方法。
- 前記食事代用製品がバー又は飲料である請求項18に記載の方法。
- 前記食事代用製品が
a)総カロリーの約10〜約35%を提供する蛋白源と、
b)総カロリーの約10〜約50%を提供する脂肪源と、
c)総カロリーの約25〜約80%を提供する炭水化物系と
を含む請求項18に記載の方法。 - プルランが前記製品の総炭水化物の少なくとも5w/w%を構成する請求項21に記載の方法。
- 十分な量のプルランを糖尿病患者に投与することを含む糖尿病患者の低血糖症の予防方法。
- a)蛋白源と、
b)脂肪源と、
c)プルランからなる群から選択される少なくとも1種の消化の遅い炭水化物を含む炭水化物系と
を含む食事代用製品。 - 前記製品が
a)総カロリーの約10〜約35%を提供する蛋白源と、
b)総カロリーの約10〜約50%を提供する脂肪源と、
c)総カロリーの約25〜約80%を提供し、乾燥重量換算で測定した場合に、プルランが総炭水化物の少なくとも5w/w%の量で存在する炭水化物系と
を含む請求項24に記載の食事代用製品。 - 包装食事代用製品を含む製造物品であって、前記製品がプルランを含み、前記製造物品が糖尿病患者により内容物が摂取されるべきであることを指示したラベルを備える製造物品。
- 包装食事代用製品を含む製造物品であって、前記代用製品がプルランを含み、前記製造物品が減量しようとするヒトにより内容物が摂取されるべきであることを指示したラベルを備える製造物品。
