磁気攪拌機を備えた三つ口丸底フラスコに、激しく攪拌しながら適量のトルエン、PPE樹脂(20wt%固形分)及び(1.5wt%)DMAP(N,N−ジメチルアミノピリジン)を仕込む。一つの口に水冷却器を連結し、別の口に窒素ガス入口管を連結する。第三の口はガラス栓で閉鎖する。ゆっくりと窒素パージを行う。フラスコを油浴攪拌機構中に置き、混合物を100℃に加熱する。PPE樹脂及びDMAPが溶解したとき、適量(PPE樹脂に対して3wt%)のMAAを混合物に添加して反応を開始する。反応時間が経過したとき(4時間後)、油浴、水冷却器及び窒素入口管を取り除く。ビーカー中において、混合物を氷で冷却する。その後、生成物の単離を行う。
磁気攪拌機を備えた三つ口丸底フラスコに、100rpmでの攪拌下で適量のモノマー(スチレン/スチレン−アクリロニトリル)及びPPE樹脂(総量の20wt%未満)を仕込む。水冷却器及び窒素ガス入口管を連結し、ゆっくりと窒素パージを行う。フラスコを油浴に入れ、混合物を所望の温度(80℃)に加熱する。PPEがトルエンに溶解したとき、適量(モノマーに対して6×10-3mol/l)のAIBN(アゾビスイソブチロニトリル)を混合物に添加して反応を開始する。反応時間が経過したとき(1時間後)、油浴を取り除いて混合物を冷却すれば、生成物を単離できる。
250rpmで連続攪拌しながら、1.0gのポリビニルアルコール(PVA)分散剤を含む600mlの沸騰済み脱イオン水を75℃に加熱する。反応は1リットル反応器内において窒素雰囲気下で行う。この溶液中に、予め調製したモノマー溶液中10wt%PPE樹脂(SAN懸濁液として)を分散させる。10〜20分後、約10gのアセトン中に溶解したラジカル開始剤AIBN(0.6g)を添加する。7時間の総反応時間後、混合物を室温に冷却し、1晩沈降させる。可能ならば、懸濁液から水層をデカントし、必要に応じて生成物に追加の処理を施す。
実施例2(a)及び2(b)の生成物をメタノール中に沈殿させて単離し、次いでブフナー漏斗で濾過し、メタノールで数回洗う。沈殿が可能でなければ、試料を先ずクロロホルムに溶解し、次いでメタノールで沈殿させる。その後、生成物を所望温度の真空炉内に入れ、好ましくは1晩放置して痕跡量のスチレン、メタノール及び水をすべて除去する。
Claims (49)
- a)ポリフェニレンエーテルセグメント、及び
b)1以上のスチレン単位、アクリロニトリル単位、及びスチレン単位とアクリロニトリル単位の組合せからなるセグメント
を含んでなるコポリマーであって、
ポリフェニレンエーテルセグメントが1対以上の不飽和脂肪族炭素原子を有するポリフェニレンエーテル樹脂から誘導され、
当該コポリマーがスチレン樹脂と混和し得る、コポリマー。 - a)1対以上の不飽和炭素原子を有する1以上の末端封鎖基を有するポリフェニレンエーテルポリマー、及び
b)下記のb−1〜b−5の1種以上
の反応から得られ、
反応中に存在する1以上の末端封鎖基を有するポリフェニレンエーテルポリマーの量が成分a+bの総重量を基準として5〜20wt%の範囲内にある、請求項1記載のコポリマー。
b−1)スチレン及びアクリロニトリルモノマー
b−2)スチレン/アクリロニトリルコポリマー
b−3)スチレン/アクリロニトリルコポリマーとスチレンモノマー及びアクリロニトリルモノマーとの組合せ
b−4)スチレン/アクリロニトリルコポリマーとスチレンモノマーとの組合せ
b−5)スチレン/アクリロニトリルコポリマーとアクリロニトリルモノマーとの組合せ - 末端封鎖基が1種以上の封鎖剤から誘導される、請求項1記載のコポリマー。
- 1種以上の封鎖剤がビニル基からなる、請求項3記載のコポリマー。
- 当該コポリマーが櫛形構造を有する、請求項1記載のコポリマー。
- 封鎖剤が、無水メタクリル酸及び無水アクリル酸からなる群から選択される、請求項3記載のコポリマー。
- ポリフェニレンエーテル樹脂が、1以上の末端封鎖基を有するポリフェニレンエーテル樹脂からなる、請求項1記載のコポリマー。
- ポリフェニレンエーテル樹脂が、25℃のクロロホルム中で測定して0.32dl/g未満の固有粘度を有する、請求項1記載のコポリマー。
- 末端封鎖基が、メタクリル酸メチル、メタクリル酸エチル及び無水メタクリル酸からなる群から選択される封鎖剤とポリフェニレンエーテル樹脂上の末端ヒドロキシル基との反応から誘導される、請求項7記載のコポリマー。
- 当該コポリマーが繊維補強材及び遊離基開始剤と配合されると共に、架橋コポリマー上に未反応ビニル基を有し、架橋コポリマーが熱、紫外線又は電子ビーム線の照射で活性化した開始剤による遊離基重合で架橋し得る、請求項1記載のコポリマー。
- ポリフェニレンエーテルセグメントが、1以上のスチレン単位、アクリロニトリル単位、及びスチレン単位とアクリロニトリル単位の組合せからなるセグメントから枝分れしている、請求項1記載のコポリマー。
- 封鎖剤が1以上のビニル基を有しており、
スチレン系モノマー、
アクリル酸系モノマー、
アクリロニトリル系モノマー、及び
エポキシ系モノマー
からなる群から選択される、請求項1記載のコポリマー。 - a)a)ポリフェニレンエーテルセグメント、及び
b)1以上のスチレン単位、アクリロニトリル単位、及びスチレン単位とアクリロニトリル単位の組合せからなるセグメント
を含むコポリマーであって、
ポリフェニレンエーテルセグメントが1対の不飽和脂肪族炭素原子を有する1以上の末端封鎖基を有するポリフェニレンエーテル樹脂から誘導され、
前記コポリマーがスチレン樹脂と混和し得る、コポリマー、並びに
b)ポリスチレン樹脂、ポリスチレンコポリマー樹脂及びこれらの組合せからなる群から選択されるスチレン樹脂
を含んでなる組成物。 - スチレン樹脂が、ポリスチレン、膨張性ポリスチレン、アクリロニトリル−ブタジエン−スチレン、スチレン−アクリロニトリル、スチレン−ブタジエンゴム、スチレン−無水マレイン酸、アルキルメタクリレート−スチレン−アクリロニトリル、ポリクロロスチレン、ポリビニルトルエン、ゴム変性ポリスチレン及びスチレン−メチルアクリレートからなる群から選択される、請求項13記載の組成物。
- コポリマーのポリフェニレンエーテル樹脂が、25℃のクロロホルム中で測定して0.32dl/g未満の固有粘度を有する、請求項13記載の組成物。
- コポリマーを導くポリフェニレンエーテル樹脂が、25℃のクロロホルム中で測定して0.20dl/g未満の固有粘度を有する、請求項13記載の組成物。
- コポリマーが櫛形構造を有すると共に、スチレン単位、アクリロニトリル単位、及びスチレン単位とアクリロニトリル単位の組合せからなる1以上のセグメントから枝分れしたポリフェニレンエーテルセクションを有する、請求項13記載の組成物。
- コポリマーを導くポリフェニレンエーテル樹脂が、25℃のクロロホルム中で測定して約0.12±0.02dl/gの固有粘度を有する、請求項13記載の組成物。
- ポリフェニレンエーテルセグメントが、重量でコポリマーの5〜80wt%を占める、請求項13記載の組成物。
- ポリフェニレンエーテルセグメントが、重量でコポリマーの50〜80wt%を占める、請求項13記載の組成物。
- コポリマーと混和し得るスチレン樹脂が、組成物全体の5〜95wt%を占める、請求項13記載の組成物。
- コポリマーと混和し得るスチレン樹脂が、組成物全体の25〜75wt%を占める、請求項13記載の組成物。
- さらに追加の樹脂成分を含む、請求項13記載の組成物。
- さらに、熱、紫外線又は電子ビーム線によって遊離基を生成し得る1種以上の遊離基開始剤を含む、請求項13記載の組成物。
- 当該組成物が単一相を有する、請求項13記載の組成物。
- 単一のガラス転移温度を有する、請求項25記載の組成物。
- ガラス転移温度が100〜175℃の範囲内にある、請求項26記載の組成物。
- 当該組成物が、264psiの圧力下で測定して、125℃を超える熱変形温度を有する、請求項13記載の組成物。
- 当該組成物が、当該組成物のガラス転移温度を超える温度の空気の存在下で炭化するのに十分な難燃性を有する、請求項13記載の組成物。
- V−0可燃性等級を有すると共に、ハロゲンを含まない、請求項13記載の組成物。
- A)i)ポリフェニレンエーテルセグメント、及び
ii)1以上のスチレン単位、アクリロニトリル単位、及びスチレン単位とアクリロニトリル単位の組合せからなるセグメント
を含むコポリマーであって、
ポリフェニレンエーテルセグメントが1対の不飽和脂肪族炭素原子を有する1以上の末端封鎖基を有するポリフェニレンエーテルポリマー鎖からなり、
前記コポリマーがスチレン樹脂と混和し得る、コポリマー、
B)ポリスチレン、スチレンコポリマー及びこれらの組合せからなる群から選択されるスチレン樹脂、並びに
C)1種以上のポリフェニレンエーテルホモポリマー
を含んでなる組成物。 - スチレン樹脂が、ポリスチレン、膨張性ポリスチレン、アクリロニトリル−ブタジエン−スチレン、スチレン−アクリロニトリル、スチレン−ブタジエンゴム、スチレン−無水マレイン酸、アルキルメタクリレート−スチレン−アクリロニトリル、ポリクロロスチレン、ポリビニルトルエン、ゴム変性ポリスチレン及びスチレン−メチルアクリレートからなる群から選択される、請求項31記載の組成物。
- ポリフェニレンエーテル樹脂が、25℃のクロロホルム中で測定して0.32dl/g未満の固有粘度を有する、請求項31記載の組成物。
- ポリフェニレンエーテル樹脂が、25℃のクロロホルム中で測定して0.20dl/g未満の固有粘度を有する、請求項31記載の組成物。
- ポリフェニレンエーテルセグメントが、重量でコポリマーの50〜80wt%を占める、請求項31記載の組成物。
- コポリマーと混和し得るスチレン樹脂が、組成物全体の25〜75wt%を占める、請求項31記載の組成物。
- さらに追加の樹脂成分を含む、請求項31記載の組成物。
- 当該組成物が、100〜175℃の範囲内にある単一のガラス転移温度を有する、請求項31記載の組成物。
- 当該組成物が、当該組成物のガラス転移温度を超える温度の空気の存在下で炭化するのに十分な難燃性を有する、請求項31記載の組成物。
- 当該組成物がV−0可燃性等級を有すると共に、ハロゲンを含まない、請求項31記載の組成物。
- ポリフェニレンエーテルポリマーの反応が塊状法で行われる、請求項2記載のコポリマー。
- ポリフェニレンエーテルポリマーの反応が溶液状態で行われる、請求項2記載のコポリマー。
- スチレンモノマー及びアクリロニトリルモノマーを含む反応媒質中にポリフェニレンエーテル樹脂を添加し、
前記反応媒質中でポリフェニレンエーテル樹脂、スチレンモノマー及びアクリロニトリルモノマーを重合させる
ことを含んでなる、コポリマー組成物の製造方法であって、
ポリフェニレンエーテル樹脂の添加量がPPE樹脂、スチレンモノマー及びアクリロニトリルモノマーの総量の5〜20wt%であり、
ポリフェニレンエーテル樹脂が、1対の不飽和炭素原子を有する1以上の末端封鎖基を有する1種以上のポリフェニレンエーテルポリマーからなる、方法。 - コポリマーを導くポリフェニレンエーテル樹脂が、25℃のクロロホルム中で測定して約0.12±0.02dl/gの固有粘度を有する、請求項43記載の方法。
- ポリフェニレンエーテル樹脂の添加量がポリフェニレンエーテル樹脂、スチレンモノマー及びアクリロニトリルモノマーの総量の5〜15wt%である、請求項43記載の方法。
- ポリフェニレンエーテル樹脂の添加量がポリフェニレンエーテル樹脂、スチレンモノマー及びアクリロニトリルモノマーの総量の10〜15wt%である、請求項43記載の方法。
- さらに、架橋コポリマーをスチレン樹脂とブレンドし、以後の溶融加工のためにブレンドからビーズを形成することを含む、請求項43記載の方法。
- 反応媒質がバルク反応媒質であり、重合が塊状法で行われる、請求項43記載の方法。
- 反応媒質がさらにポリフェニレンエーテル樹脂、スチレンモノマー、アクリロニトリルモノマー又はこれらの組合せを懸濁する液体を含み、重合が懸濁法で行われる、請求項43記載の方法。
