Abstract
【解決手段】 イオン注入法による発色したダイアモンドの製造方法において、イオンを真空下で加速させダイアモンド表面に注入する工程、及び前記イオンが注入されたダイアモンドを熱処理する工程からなる発色したダイアモンドの製造方法を提供する。
本発明の製造方法は、ダイアモンドに光学的バンドギャップ変化を誘発できるイオンを注入することにより、金属イオンを注入する従来のイオン注入法と比べて簡単で少ない費用で発色したダイアモンドを製造でき、熱処理を施すことによりダイアモンドに均一な色相を付与できるだけではなく、1種類以上のイオンを混合注入することができ、多様な発色を示すダイアモンドを製造することができ、イオン注入と熱処理条件により永久的な発色効果を得られる。

Description
00.1カラットの人造及び天然ダイアモンドをイオン注入機の真空容器照射ジグ(jig)に位置させた後、イオン源から引き出されたイオンを質量分析機で分離して1価窒素イオンを選択後、加速させてエネルギーを70keVにして1017/cm2のイオン量で注入した。窒素イオンが注入されたダイアモンドをアルゴン雰囲気で650℃で2時間熱処理した。
窒素イオン注入後、熱処理により発色変化が起きる機構を明らかにするため、X線光電子分光器を使用して注入窒素のN1s化学状態を分析した。ここで、X線光電子分光器は、フィジカルエレクトロニクス(Physical Electronics)社のPhi 5800モデルを使用した。前記X線光電子分光器を使用してX線を試片に照射して、Nの1s電子の結合エネルギーを測定することによりNの化学結合状態を確認できる。分析の結果、窒素がダイアモンドを構成する炭素と結合をしているなら使用環境に影響を受けずに発色効果が安定的であることを推定できる。
熱処理雰囲気による発色効果を確認するために、実施例1で製造した黒色ダイアモンドと実施例1と同じ方法を実施してアルゴン雰囲気ではなく大気中で製造したダイアモンドの色を視覚で比較した。
Claims (6)
- イオン注入法による発色したダイアモンドの製造方法において、
イオンを真空下で加速させてダイアモンド表面に注入する工程(工程1)及び前記イオンが注入されたダイアモンドを熱処理する工程(工程2)からなる発色したダイアモンドの製造方法。 - 前記イオンが、Be、B、N、O、Mg、Al、P、S、In、Sb、Te、Tl及びBiからなる群の中から選択されたものであることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の発色したダイアモンドの製造方法。
- 前記製造方法が、単一イオンまたは二種以上のイオンを混合してダイアモンド表面に注入することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の発色したダイアモンドの製造方法。
- 前記熱処理が、真空または不活性気体雰囲気下で行なわれることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の発色したダイアモンドの製造方法。
- 前記不活性気体が、窒素、ヘリウムまたはアルゴンであることを特徴とする請求項4に記載の発色したダイアモンドの製造方法。
- 前記熱処理温度が、500℃以上で遂行されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の発色したダイアモンドの製造方法。
