Description
上記の装置は、石英るつぼを融合させるための制御された方法を実施することのできるシステムを提供する。具体的には、望ましくないガスを最少限に抑えることのできる融合雰囲気が提供される。この点に関しては、シュラウド及びハウジングの内部領域に所望のガス組成物を供給することにより、所望の融合雰囲気で周囲大気が置換される。流入する所望のガス組成物によって生み出される正圧が残留する周囲ガスを追出すことができるようにするために出口が設けられる。また、融合雰囲気は真空系統により鋳型を通して抜取られるが、これは周囲ガスレベルをさらに低下させると共に、けい砂粒子間に閉込められた周囲ガスをより望ましいガスで置換するために役立つ。十分なガス流入量を維持することにより、システム内には周囲ガスの流入を妨げる正圧が存在する。システム内の流量は、流入量が全ての流出量より大きくなるように制御されることが望ましい。このようにすれば、上記の領域は正圧となり、従って所望のガス組成を有する制御容積を生み出すことが一層確実に可能となる。
