【特許請求の範囲】
【請求項１】
イオン交換樹脂でガバペンチン塩酸塩水溶液を処理することにより、ガバペンチン塩酸塩を無機塩から分離して精製しそして精製ガバペンチン塩酸塩をガバペンチンに転換する方法であって、当該方法は、溶離剤として水を用いて前記イオン交換樹脂にガバペンチンを固定する第１の段階と、溶離剤としてアンモニア溶液を用いて前記イオン交換樹脂からガバペンチンを放出させる第２の段階とを含み、且つ前記イオン交換樹脂が強カチオン性樹脂であることを特徴とする方法。
【請求項２】
前記無機塩がナトリウム塩である、請求項１に記載の方法。
【請求項３】
前記無機塩が塩化ナトリウムである、請求項２に記載の方法。
【請求項４】
前記アンモニア溶液の濃度が４％以下である、請求項１に記載の方法。
第２の段階では、樹脂にアンモニア溶液を流すことにより樹脂からガバペンチンを選択的に放出させるが、この放出されたガバペンチンは、無機塩を実質的に含まず、蒸発及びそれに続く結晶化により分離しうる。放出段階で用いるアンモニア溶液の濃度は４％以下であることが好ましい。
