994,805. Valve bags. H. ECKHOFF. June 18, 1962 [June 22, 1961], No. 23361/62. Heading B8K. A valve for a bag of synthetic material is formed by a slit 16 (Fig. 1) covered internally by a flap 18 (Fig. 2) welded in position by a U-shaped weld 20. The valve flap 18 may be of rubber or similar material, or of polyvinyl chloride, and is preferably thinner, more flexible and more elastic than the synthetic material of the bag. The bag may be formed of two sheets welded together, of a single sheet folded on itself, or of seamless tubing. The flap 18 preferably overlaps the weld 20 by about 20 mm. to strengthen the adjacent wall of the bag. Portions near the corners of the line 20 may be left unwelded to facilitate escape of air from the valve.
