Abstract
1,000,847. Block-bottom multi-ply bays. A. WINDMOLLER, and M. GENNERICH, [trading as WINDMOLLER & HOLSCHER]. June 19, 1962 [June 22, 1961], No. 23512/62. Heading B8K. A cover sheet 11 (Fig. 1), with a thermoplastic coating on one side, is heat sealed at 13, 16, 17 to the block-bottom of a multi-ply bag 1 before the side flaps 18, 19 are folded in: this prevents adhesive used in securing the flaps 18, 19 from contaminating the contents of the bag. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the sheet 11 is welded to a valve sheet 8 adhesively secured at 9. The plies may be staggered, as in Fig. 1, or the stagger may be in the reverse sense, as shown in Fig. 5, so that the inner plies are shorter than the outer. In the latter arrangement, sheets 26, 27, lined with plastic, are secured by adhesive 28, 29 to the inner ply and the cover sheet 30 is then heat sealed at 32, 33 to these. Where the plies are staggered in one sense at one side of the bag and in the opposite sense at the other side, one of the sheets 26, 27 is omitted.
