Abstract

994,634. Pneumatic conveyers. MONO PUMPS Ltd. June 7, 1962 [June 7, 1961], No. 20627/61. Heading B8A. A flexible fluidizing unit for insertion in a hopper &c. containing granular material comprises a flexible air pervious membrane 3, Fig. 2, attached to a flexible backing member 1 with an intermediate spacer 2 having apertures 4 and slots 6 for the distribution of air from inlets 7. The air permeable membrane may be of high density polyethylene and the backing 1 and spacer 2 of rubber, the assembly being bonded together and attached to the hopper by rivets, bolts &c. inserted through countersunk holes 10. The inlets 7 may comprise hollow bolts 8 (Fig. 5, not shown) having apertured heads 9 of depth equal to the spacing between the membranes 1, 3, the bolts also providing additional means for attachment of the unit to a hopper wall. Wedge section fillet strips 15, Fig. 6, may be placed at the edges to eliminate any points at which the material could collect.
