Abstract

1,162,836. Pneumatic conveyers; fluidization of powdered materials. WERNER & PFLEIDERER. 29 Nov., 1966 [21 Dec., 1965], No. 53388/66. Heading B8A. The fluidizing floor of a hopper 1 containing powdered material consists of an air-permeable covering 7 in the form of one or more layers of woven material secured by a layer of adhesive to a perforated backing plate 6. The area covered by the adhesive determines the area of the covering 7 adhering to the backing plate and, thereby, the flow resistance to air passing through the floor. In a second embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown), the backing plate is formed as a feed tube which is provided with an air-permeable covering and which is mounted within an outer casing supplied with compressed air. The upper half of the outer surface of the covering is rendered impermeable to air by being coated with adhesive.
