Abstract
1368101 Pneumatic conveyers; hoppers TRYTHALL DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT Ltd 14 July 1972 [25 Aug 1971] 39968/71 Heading B8A A hopper for powdered or granular wet or dry material comprises a vessel 1 separated by a bulkhead 7 into upper and lower spaces, the upper space being further divided by walls into an air reservoir and a material receptacle 5 with a closable inlet 6, the material receptacle extending through the bulkhead into the lower space. The lower space has a material outlet 11 and an annular wall 9 spaced from a lower wall 3 of the lower space to form an annular gap 10 through which air from the air reservoir is directed via a valve 8, forming an annular air stream to sweep the lower wall to move the material towards the outlet. In the figure, the material receptacle comprises four tubular members, the rest of the upper space forming the air reservoir. In other embodiments, not shown, the material receptacle comprises an annular member, the outer wall of which forms the annular wall in the lower space (Fig. 2) or a single tubular member the lower part of the wall of which forms the annular wall in the lower space (Fig. 4). A further air reservoir may also be provided around the lower space (Fig. 3).
