844,070. Pneumatic conveyers. AMALGAMATED LIMESTONE CORPORATION Ltd. June 25, 1958 [June 26, 1957], No. 20162/57. Class 78 (1). In a container 10 for powdered &c. materials which are discharged pneumatically through a pipe 17 against the action of gravity, an air pipe 23 which is located wholly inside the container is arranged to discharge into the pipe 17 and has its inlet disposed at or near the top of the container. Air is admitted through a pipe 21 to a plenum chamber 19 below a porous floor 18 on which the material is supported. This floor is inclined at a small angle to the horizontal if the axis of the container is horizontal. Material passes from the container through an outlet 14 into a short pipe 16 leading to the pipe 17. The pipe 16 contains a valve 15. The plenum chamber 19 may be divided into compartments each of which is provided with one, or more, separate pressure air inlets. Additional pressure air may be admitted through an inlet in the wall of the pipe 17, outlet 14 or pipe 16. A plurality of containers may be connected in series.
