Abstract

1305085 Pneumatic emptying of containers W FENDT 24 Feb 1970 [24 Feb 1969] 8948/70 Heading B8A Dish-shaped or flat circular baffles 22 are mounted adjacent the interior surface of the wall 16 of a container for granular material and gas is supplied to the space between each baffle and the wall whereby at least a portion of the gas flows out between the edge of the baffle and the wall to facilitate discharge of material from the container. As shown, each baffle is supported on a rod 25 extending through an aperture 13 in the wall and secured to a T-connection 21. The baffle is spaced from the surface of the wall by welded projections 24 thereby providing a gap 23 for the escape of gas supplied through a flexible hose 15. In a second embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), the baffles are supported on inwardly directed pipes connected to a compressed gas supply. The baffles may be mounted so that the spacing between the baffles and the wall is adjustable, and they may be formed with orifices to allow a portion of the gas to flow inwardly into the material.
