Abstract
1437233 Pneumatic conveyers MONSANTO CO 9 Oet 1973 [10 Oet 1972] 47152/73 Heading B8A A weatherproof container has a sealable charging opening, a porous floor beneath which is an enclosed air space, a sealable air inlet and a sealable discharge conduit. Particulate material is stored in the container until it is required to discharge it, when compressed air is supplied to the enclosed space to fluidize the material which then flows out through the discharge conduit. The container is used in conjunction with a mixing apparatus in order to mix the particulate material with a liquid, the mixing apparatus being in the form of an assembly which includes means providing the compressed air, and a pump for the liquid. In the figure, material enters through sealable port 31 which may form a vent when discharging, air enters through inlet 34 and fluidizes the material above porous floor 36 so that the material flows out of conduit 37. The apparatus is particularly useful to store fire retardant for mixing with water before spraying on to forest fires.
