Abstract

854,259. Discharging materials from vehicles. KNUTSEN, M. E. Feb. 21, 1957 [Feb. 21, 1956; March 16, 1956], Nos. 5338/56 and 8313/56. Class 78 (4). Agitators 19 near the junction of the end wall and main body of a vehicle body are disposed V- wise on opposite sides of the discharge outlet. The agitators 19 preferably comprise perforated plates backed by porous material through which air passes to fluidize material directed towards the outlet by tipping the body. The drawing, which is a view from the discharge end of the body, shows two discharge outlets 17 separated by a deflecting ridge 18 and leading to a delivery pipe 16 along which material is conveyed by a flow of air introduced through a conduit 22 which is also connected through branches 25, 26 to provide air for the agitators 19. Valves 28, 30 control the passage of air and material along the pipe 16. The portion of the body containing the discharge apparatus described may be hinged along the line X-X.
