Abstract
963,037. Pneumatic conveyers. NEWAYGO ENGINEERING CO. Aug. 9, 1961 [Sept. 26, 1960], No. 28830/61. Heading B8A. A sealed hopper 26, Fig. 2, for delivering particulate material into a pneumatic conveying system has one or more annular nozzles 100, 118 through which loosening air &c. is introduced into the hopper from annular chambers 98, 114 into which the air is directed tangentially to create a swirling action over the hopper walls. The size of the nozzles may be accurately set by interchangeable annular inserts 104, 122, the insert 122 at the base of the hopper being resilient and operating as a check valve to prevent particulate material from falling into the manifold 114. An additional swirling nozzle 140, Fig. 7, may also be inserted in the conveying pipeline 50 between coupling flanges 130, 132, air being introduced through tangential inlets 138.
