Abstract

994,025. Ladders. H. C. SLINGSBY Ltd., G. SLINGSBY, and J. F. SLINGSBY. Aug. 30, 1963 [May 31, 1962], No. 21000/62. Heading A6L. A ladder running at the top on a rail 13 comprises a short lower part 1B which can be telescoped by spring &c. pressure into the main part 1A to allow the ladder to be moved while clear of the floor. The part 1B is moved clear of the floor by springs 6 in the tubular stiles of the part 1A adjustably supported by bolt 7 and held clear by spring bolts in a step 3L, which move out laterally to engage registering holes in the two parts of the ladder and are withdrawn by depressing a block 11 connected by chains to the bolts. The ladder is fixed at its upper end to a casing 18 having two pivoted frames 19 carrying pulleys 16, 17 engaging above and below the rail 13. The rail may be in sections joined by short tubes 15A fixed to the ends of brackets 15.
