Abstract

594,987. Step-ladders. HICKMAN & CO., Ltd., W., and HICKMAN, W. April 12, 1945, No. 9113. [Class 20(ii)] A step-ladder comprises a pair of metal side frames each consisting of a pair of parallel or converging tubes 1 joined at intervals by cross bars 2, and a pair of tubular metal legs 7 constituting a supporting strut. The side frames are connected by horizontal metal bars 3 secured to the cross bars 2, and their top and bottom ends 5 may be rounded, open or flat. The treads may consist of the bars 3, or separate treads 4 of wood, plastic, metal &c. may be attached to the side frames and supported by the bars 3. Treads may also be provided on the supporting strut, which is either rigidly or pivotally connected to the side frames at 8.
