Abstract

1,238,682. Boring earth &c. BYRON JACKSON Inc. 15 Nov., 1968 [4 Dec., 1967], No. 54457/68. Heading E1F. The links 42 supporting an elevator 44 are restrained from moving relative to the hook 38 by a stabilizer assembly 47. The assembly comprises a frame 471 carried by the hook and a shock absorber assembly 476 connected to the links and pivoted to the frame. The frame is pivoted to the hook at 472 and has a latch 508 releasably engaging a bar 511 on the hook to permit the stabilizer assembly being pivoted so that a swivel 503 may be supported by the hook, a bumper 503a being interposed between the links and swivel. The travelling block and hook may be moved bodily sideways in accordance with Specification 1,238,681 to engage the elevator with top of a stand of pipe supported by a pipe rack in accordance with Specification 1,214,346.
