Abstract
1,056,203. Boring earth &c. LEE C. MOORE CORPORATION. June 1, 1965 [June 10, 1964], No. 23254/65. Heading E1F. A snubbing arrangement for lowering a pivoted mast from its dead centre position B on to a structure 5, or for raising the mast from the structure to past the dead centre position, comprises a snub line 21 anchored to a fixture 9 adjacent the crown block 11 of the mast in reclining position and releasably fixed to the travelling block 13 which is connected to a track 22 to run along a fixed path in the mast. The mast is raised from the reclining position to past the dead centre position by connecting a sling 17 running about the hook of the travelling block to the opposite sides of the structure and operating the draw works 15, the line being short enough to check the mast which then lowered on to the structure by lowering the travelling block. The line is shortened when the mast is raised from the structure to past the dead centre by raising the travelling block.
