Abstract
1.058,072. Boring earth &c. LEE C. MOORE CORPORATION. July 27, 1965 [Nov. 5, 1964], No. 31962/65. Heading E1F. A folding mast comprises a section 4 hinged at 3 to a base 1, a section 5 hinged at 6 to the section 4, and legs 7 pivoted to the section 5 at 8 and to the base, the arrangement being that if one section is swung upwardly the legs cause the other section to be swung upwardly until both sections are erect. The mast is erected to the position shown in dotted lines by tensioning a sling 26 passing about the hook 25 of the travelling block 12, over pulleys 27 on the section 5, over a frame 28 on the section 4 and fixed at points 30 on the section 4. The shoes 19' by which the legs are connected to the base are movable so that the lower ends of the legs may be connected to shoes 9 to position the mast in the position shown in full lines. The base may be mounted on a drilling barge.
