Abstract

1,173,855. Boring eart &c. WATSON MFG. CO. 1 July, 1968 [3 July, 1967], No. 31387/68. Heading E1F. A kelly 13 supported by a swivel 15 has a stabilizer 95 between the swivel and the foot of the mast 11. The stabilizer which has rollers 97 engaging the mast slides over the kelly, and is connected to the mast and swivel so that whatever the position of the swivel the stabilizer is midway between the swivel and the rotary table (not shown). The swivel which also has rollers engaging the mast is connected by cables to a cylinder slidable over a piston for raising and lowering the swivel and the kelly.
