Abstract

904,433. Mine roof supports. JOSEPH, H. V. Jan. 22, 1960 [Jan. 23, 1959], No. 2339/60. Class 20 (2). [Also in Group XXV] An advancing mine roof support comprises frame units B, C each consisting of lateral bars such as 31 which are interconnected by beams 32, the beams 32 of one frame being staggered relative to the beams of the other frame, whereby the said units may be extended as shown or collapsed or angled relative to one another, see Fig. 3 (not shown). The frames are vertically adjusted independently of one another and horizontally advanced or retracted by double-acting hydraulic props D, E, respectively, which are connected in parallel to common supply means for details of which Fig. 14 (not shown) should be referred to. Opposed props D are connected together by side beams 80 secured thereto by clips 82. 83 whilst the beams 32 are connected to the bars 31 by clips 60, 61 (see also Group XXV). In a modification, the beams constitute telescopic members which are individually adjusted to accommodate varying roof spans, by hydraulic jacks, each of which is disposed between and detachably clamped to a pair of props D, see Figs. 15 ... 21 (not shown).
