A receiving sheet for use in the silver salt diffusion process comprises a support carrying a layer containing polyvinyl acetate and gelatin, overcoated with a layer of a water-permeable colloid, either or both layers containing development nuclei or a substance capable of forming such nuclei when in contact with dissolved silver salts. The overcoating may be of gelatin, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose or an alginate. The development nuclei may be colloidal silver or colloidal silver sulphide. The sheet may contain a blue-black toning agent such as 5-methyl-oxazoline-2-thiol or 5, 5-dimethyl-4-thiohydantain and the usual addenda.
