Abstract

989,635. Piles. H. STAUNAU. Sept. 29, 1961 [May 31, 1961], No. 35357/61. Heading E1H. A concrete pile is formed in situ by forcing into the ground a tube with concrete held down in it 'by an hydraulically operated plug and wedge device and causing the concrete to bulge out sideways as the tube is withdrawn, the tube being driven into the ground by a monkey. Fig. 3 shows the tube 1 containing concrete 4 driven into the ground by the monkey 8, the concrete being held by a device capable of jamming itself in the tube and of forcing the concrete downwards comprising an hydraulic cylinder 2 and ram 13 and an hydraulically operated wedge tube gripping part 6. In Fig. 4 the ram 13 has been actuated to bulge the concrete and raise the tube 1. Next (Fig. 5) the ram 13 is allowed to retract, the tube 1 is driven by the monkey 8 and the bulbous foot 12 is formed. As shown in Fig. 6, reinforcement 24 may be placed in the tube which is then filled with concrete. The device 13-2-6 is replaced (Fig. 7) and the pile completed (Fig. 8).
