Abstract

1,118,402. Pile driving. B. GREEN. 22 June, 1966 [6 July, 1965]; No. 28522/65. Heading E1H. In a method of pressure piling a tubular steel mandrel section 2 transmits pressure from a hydraulic jack 5 to a pile shoe 1, the mandrel section being surrounded by a concrete pile outer shell section 3 resting on the shoe. The jack 5 is operated against the passive resistance 6 and pressure is transmitted by the capping head 4 to both the mandrel and the outer shell. Further mandrel sections and outer shell sections may be added for piling to be carried out in successive stages.
