Abstract
985,351. Underpinning. L. MULLER. Jan. 29, 1963, No. 3612/63. Heading E1E. Piles 9 are driven under the load-bearing parts 1 of a building by an hydraulic press 6 for underpinning. A working pit is excavated below the building wall 1 to accommodate a supporting framing 3, 4, 5 and hydraulic presses 6 supporting a girder 8 which bears on the pile head to drive the pile. The pile is hollow and has a pile shoe supported from its lower end by ribs 14 to allow the passage of a cement grout 21. The pile head carries a sleeve 22 having short trapezium-shaped rails 17 for guidance and to provide location for extension pieces 11 which may be welded to the pile 9.
