Abstract
771,728. Shaft linings. LAEVEN & CO., N.V., BETON-EN AANNEMING-MIJ. July 26, 1955 [Sept. 2, 1954], No. 21599/55. Class 85. [Also in Group X] A movable shuttering 1 for lining mine shafts with concrete has two expansible circular frames 3, 4 connected independently to it by sets of single or double acting hydraulic rams 7, 8. The frames 3, 4 can be expanded outwardly by hydraulic rams 5 to be fixed in the shaft. In operation the frame 3 is expanded and fixed in the shaft with the shuttering supported on the rams 8 and the annulus between the shuttering and the borehole wall is filled with concrete. When the concrete has set the frame 4 is expanded against it, the frame 3 contracted and the shuttering raised by the rams 7 ready for further concreting. The frame 3 is connected to the frame 4 by ropes 9, 10 which pass over rollers 11, 12 mounted in the shuttering so that as the shuttering is raised the frame 3 is also raised. The shaft lining comprises bitumen plates 21, external reinforcing 22 and internal reinforcing 23. A scaffolding having platforms 16, 17, 18 is suspended in the shaft and work on the lining can be carried on from all the platforms simultaneously, e.g. bitumen plates from platform 16, external reinforcing from platform 17 &c.
