Abstract

Staging.-In the construction of a waterless gas-holder fitted with a closing disc c which can be raised as the work proceeds and used as a working platform, erecting stages g, g<1> for effecting work required to be done from the outside of the holder are mounted on rods h<2> suspended from girders h which project from the disc structure and are connected to the roof d bv tie-rods h<1>. The roof d is supported on the disc c by struts d<1> which are provided with hooks e for engagement with projections f on the gasholder posts a when the disc has been adjusted to an operating position. The stages g, g<1> may be mounted on counterweighted members i, i<1> which are pivoted at k, k<1> to the rods h<2> so that the stages may be rocked out of the way of galleries or other external projections on the gas-holder when being adjusted.
