A hollow portion 2 of a wheeled crowbar contains a member 4 part of which can be projected beyond a lifting spur 5 to engage the ground to make the crowbar self-supporting in the load-raised position. The member can can be projected or retracted by an operating knob 7 which is connected to the member by a rod 6 and which can be secured in position to lock the member 4 in projected or retracted position. In a modification, Fig. 4, a rest leg 11 prevents an operator's fingers from being trapped against the ground. The wheels 13 may be dispensed with, the body of the crowbar being pro-. vided with a rounded projection serving as a fulcrum. Alternatively a separate roller or bar may be employed.
