Abstract

1,068,813. Propelling by hand; preventing lateral canting. TIRFOR Ltd. March 19, 1965 [March 20, 1964; Oct. 28, 1964], No. 11660/65. Headings B7B and B7D. [Also in Division B8] The forwardly extending legs 27 of a masted lift truck are provided with castors 25 and are secured to uprights 28 pivoted at 29 to a frame 30 and connected by links to a hand lever 39, whereby the angle between the legs 27 may be varied. The lever 39 is secured to a bar (36), Figs. 2, 3 (not shown), which is pivoted to the frame 30 and which is connected by links (33) to arms 32 secured to the uprights 28. In a modification, Figs. 4, 5 (not shown), toothed sectors (61) secured to the legs (58) mesh with toothed sectors (62) secured to shafts (63) which are rotatable by hand levers (68). A vertically movable wheel (107) is provided whereby the wheels (52) may be raised from the ground. Oscillation of the levers (68) about the axis (67) causes the truck to be moved forwards or backwards depending upon the position of a push rod (95) which is coupled by links (91, 89) to a reversing member (85), Figs. 6, 7 (not shown). L-shaped members (71, 81) are loosely supported on the axle (51) of each wheel (52) and are interconnected by bolts (77) extending through tubular distance-pieces (74, 75). The reversing member (85) is pivoted at (84) to the member (81) and is formed with teeth (86, 87) adapted to engage the distance pieces (74, 75) which are housed in recesses (78, 79), Fig. 8 (not shown), in a hollow member (80) which is connected by a link (103) to the lever (68). When the reversing member (85) is moved about the pivot (84) from the neutral position shown, one of its teeth disengages from and the other engages in the recesses (78, 79) and, on reciprocating the lever (68) about the axis (67), the member (80) pivots about one of the distance-pieces (74, 75) into engagement with the side wall (70) of the wheel (52) which is thereby rotated.
