Abstract

The forklift truck is operated from a platform (6) at the rear, using a steering tiller (14). In order to protect the operator when standing, a guard (2) is fitted around the platform. This comprises a tubular rail (3, 4) formed to a U-shape and fitted each side of the platform. One leg (10, 11) of each rail forms the upper horizontal portion of the guard and slides in a guide (12, 13) fixed to the truck body (5). The lower leg (7, 8) is also free to slide and the guard can be extended, or it can be retracted to minimise operating room. In both cases, a lock is provided.
