940,844. Lifting apparatus on lorries. C. E. PAGE. April 24, 1962 [Jan. 26, 1961; July 10, 1961], Nos. 3129/61 and 24913/61. Heading B8H. The tractor A of a tractortrailer lorry combination is provided with a fork lift mechanism which is mounted on the front of the cab and which comprises a pair of telescopic masts 2, 5a, 5b and a fork carriage 6 provided with a pair of forks 7a. The forks are mounted on left-hand and right-hand threaded portions of a bar, Fig. 2 (not shown), which is rotatably mounted so as to be capable of varying the distance between the forks, and are hinged at 7c so that they may be folded up when not in use. The fork lift mechanism may be tiltable, forwardly and rearwardly, and may be movable transversely across the front of the cab. The ends of the forks may be made of or provided with caps of hard elastomeric material. The tractor is provided with a ballast weight 9.
