1,019,408. Outrigger supports for vehicles. UNIVERSAL MURION CORPORATION. Oct. 2, 1964 [Jan. 15, 1964], No. 40359/64. Headings B7D and B7J. A stabilizer unit 28 for a crane 23 or other material-handling device supported on a vehicle 20 comprises supports wheels 57 carried by outrigger beams 55, 56 extensible laterally of the vehicle by hydraulic cylinders 94, 95, 108, 109 and displaceable downwardly to engage the wheels with the ground surface by hydraulic rams 54. The rams 54 are mounted in housings carried by beam members 43, 44, 52, 53 slidable by the cylinders 94, 95, 108, 109 from housing members 29, 30 secured beneath a central member 31 of the vehicle chassis 22. Rounded ends on the rod portions of the rams 54 are retained in arcuate recesses on the outrigger beams 55, 56. The rams 54 may be individually controlled for independent adjustment of the outrigger beams 55, 56 on sloping or uneven terrain or for raising the wheels 57 at one end of the outrigger beams to facilitate turning of the vehicle.
