1,040,389. Preventing lateral canting. KAPITALVERWALTUNGSGESELLSCHAFT KARL PESCHKE. July 13, 1965, No. 29602/65. Heading B7D. In a vehicle having the wheels 5 on one or more axles adjustable vertically under the control of a pendulum device to maintain the vehicle body level on slopes, a first pendulum 23 and a second inverted pendulum 24 suspended about axes 25, 26 extending longitudinally of the vehicle are connected by a linkage 27, 28, 29 to avoid unwanted dynamic effects. A link 22 connected to the pendulum 23 actuates a control valve (Fig. 3, not shown) controlling fluid supply from a pump to doubleacting hydraulic cylinders 8, 8<SP>1</SP> extending between arms 9, 9<SP>1</SP> on the axle 3, 3<SP>1</SP> and guide arms 6, 6<SP>1</SP> which are rigidly connected to hubs 4, 4<SP>1</SP> pivoted on the axle and linked by a rod 7 pivoted on the vehicle body. The vehicle may have three wheels as shown, or four wheels on two adjustable axles, the two hydraulic cylinders on each side of the vehicle being connected to the control valve in parallel (Fig. 5, not shown) to allow the axles to adjust readily to uneven ground.
