Abstract
1,090,674. Preventing lateral canting. DEMAG-ZUG G.m.b.H. Feb. 24, 1965 [Feb. 25, 1964], No. 8016/65. Heading B7D. A stabilizer for a mobile crane with a pair of hydraulic cylinders 4 between a platform 1 and an axle 2 comprises displaceable slide valves 17, 18 which are sensitive to tilting of the platform 1 to bring into operation a distributing slide valve 14 by which pressure medium is fed to the cylinders 4 to restore the platform, a second slide valve 15 operative to connect the valve 14 to the cylinders when the jib 23 of the crane is outside the space determined by the central planes of the wheels of the vehicle and a relief pressure device 28 which permits oil to be delivered to a pressure reservoir 30 or large amplitude cylinder vibrations during road travel. The valve 15 is operated to render the suspension springs inoperative by a cam 6 on the platform 1 through a follower 22 when the crane is being operated laterally of the vehicle and by a manual control 21a when the jib is longitudinally of the vehicle. On lateral tilting of the platform a pressure differential is produced between the chambers 4a, 4b and 4c, 4d of the cylinders 4 and is communicated to the valves 17 and 18 which move the valve 14 so as to connect the pressure output from a pump P to the requisite chambers 4a, 4c or 4b, 4d to level the platform. A manually operated valve 13 permits filling of the system with oil and a further manually operated valve 25 permits training of the system or connection of the cylinders 4 to the pressure reservoir 30 when the valve 15 is in its left-hand position interconnecting the lines 11 and 12. Pressure switches 33 and 34 are provided to actuate a warning lamp 35.
