1387970 Hydro-pneumatic suspension systems ARDIE-WERK GmbH and FRIESEKE & HOEPFNER GmbH 17 Oct 1973 [18 Oct 1972] 48305/73 Heading B7D In a road vehicle suspension system having hydro-pneumatic suspension cylinders 20 acting on opposite ends of a front axle connected to separate hydraulic levelling circuits 1, 2 ineluding individual levelling valves 3, 4, the opening times of the levelling valves 3, 4 are automatically adjusted relative to one another in dependence on the pressure in the circuits 1, 2 so that the pressure in the suspension cylinders 20 tends to be equalized during levelling operations and neither front wheel is completely relieved of load when operating over uneven terrain. The levelling valves 3, 4 are connected to common level sensing means 7 on the front axle through a connecting linkage 6 having geometry which is varied to adjust the relative opening times of the valves by a piston and cylinder unit 5 having a piston 11 centralized by a spring and subjected on opposite sides to the pressure in the respective cylinders 20. The suspension cylinders 20 communicate with pressure accumulators 21 through throttle restrictions or valves, and anti-roll cylinders 22 acting in opposition to the cylinders 20 are each connected to the cylinder 20 at the respective opposite end of the axle. The levelling valves 3, 4 are connected through a throttle valve 23 to a reservoir 24 and supplied with pressure fluid through non-return valves 16 from a main accumulator 13 charged by a pump 14 with a relief valve 15.
