A hand truck has its longitudinals 1 extended to form loop handles 2 provided with wheels 3 and the fixed toe-plate 6 has pivotally secured on its underside a frame 5 which is moved from under the toe-plate to the position shown so that it forms a convenient lifting handle 15 for the lower of two men lifting the truck up a flight of stairs. The wheels 3 support the longitudinals in the horizontal position when the handles are moved near the ground.
