987,756. Insulation for dynamo-electric machines. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. July 18, 1961, No. 26017/61. Drawings to Specification. Heading H2A. In a method of insulating the coil windings of a high-voltage dynamo-electric machine there is first wrapped about the slot portions a ribbon consisting of micanite bonded to a glassfibre fabric with an epoxy resin, the wrapping thereafter being vacuum-impregnated with an epoxy resin at an elevated temperature, so as to expel residual air, a similar ribbon being subsequently wrapped about the end portions which are then also impregnated with an epoxy resin at an elevated temperature, there being no need for vacuum-impregnation of these portions as the risk of breakdown therein is small. The elevated temperatures employed are preferably sufficient to cure the epoxy resin.
