Abstract
963,880. Air-gap partitions. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. June 15, 1961 [June 17, 1960], No. 21348/60. Heading H2A. A dynamo-electric machine of the kind in which cooling fluid is passed through the stator, has the stator bore sealed from the rotor bore by a layer of non-conductive, non-magnetic material intimately bonded with the bore so as to form a cylindrical sleeve. In the motor stator shown, cooling fluid is passed along the interstices between the winding conductors 13 (Fig. 2) in the stator slots. The escape of air into the bore is prevented first by filling the gap between the wedge 15 and the bore with thermosetting resin material 17 and then covering the inside of the bore with a similar material such that the sleeve so formed is intimately bonded to the stator and to the filling 17. The material may be reinforced with glass fibre and may extend at 18a over sleeve extensions 20 which are also bonded to the stator.
