Abstract

1,040,700. Dynamo-electric machine insulation. A. REYROLLE & CO. Ltd. March 19, 1963 [Dec. 20, 1961], No. 45694/61. Heading H2A. A single or a bundle of rectangular section conductors 10 for a dynamo-electric machine, e.g. an alternator rotor or stator, is insulated by winding over substantially the whole length crÚpe paper 13 which either before or after the winding operation is impregnated with a thermosetting casting resin, e.g. of the epoxy type, the insulation of the intermediate part 11 of the length then being accurately moulded to a rectangular or other cross-section. In the particular embodiment, the intermediate part is straight and is hot-pressed to a size which corresponds with that of a core slot into which it is to be fitted, and the end portions 12 are bent and terminate in uninsulated parts which serve as connector tags. A polyvinyl chloride tape 15 may be wound over the paper 13 to retain the liquid impregnant before curing, and may be subsequently removed. In other embodiments, not shown, the bundle comprises four conductor bars which may have internal cooling fluid channels and which are mutually insulated by either crÚpe paper similar to the paper 13 or mica-filled tape.
